The Legend of Zeldaseries has been one of Nintendo’s most popular and recognized franchises since the first game’s release on the NES. Since the first top-down adventure game released in 1986,The Legend of Zeldaseries has taken multiple forms, such as the open-worldBreath of the Wild.A sequel toBreath of the Wildwill be the next major installment in theLegend of Zeldafranchise, yet fans of the series are often looking back to earlier entries as much as they are looking forwards.
As a franchise that initially released in the 1980s, gamers of that time have carried their love forThe Legend of Zeldaover the years. From fans creating aPC port ofOcarina of Time, to modern games taking inspiration fromThe Legend of Zeldatitles, its clear the series still holds weight in the gaming community today. The LEGO project involved creator Ian Roosma spending a few months working on something that had “personal meaning” to him. Roosma then went on to say that “Zeldaon the NES is nostalgic for me because it was the beginning of open-world games.” Buying LEGO pieces from independent brick sellers, theLegend of Zeldafan was able to gain all the pieces he needed for the project. Considering the originalLegend of Zeldagame was created in 2D, the 3D element of LEGO pieces proved to be quite the challenge.
Despite the challenges, Roosma created an impressive tribute to one of his favorite games, completing the map of Hyrule at 30 inches tall and 86 inches wide. Fans who watch Roosma’s video on YouTube may be disappointed that he doesn’t have a plan for another epic build anytime soon. However, for anyone looking for other gaming related LEGO projects, there are plenty to be found across the internet, such as one that depicts themost famous scenes fromRed Dead Redemption 2.
Besides LEGO creations,The Legend of Zeldafans have found plenty of other ways to pay tribute to their favorite franchise. From a tattoo of Majora’s Mask, to recreations of the maps inLegend of Zeldagames in other games likeAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, fans are always finding new creations to make.
