With the release ofThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildcame a new era of opportunity for the franchise. Open-world games have come a long way through the years, and theimpact left byThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildstill lingers, with players given a wide variety of materials to scavenge, regions to explore, and shrines to uncover. However, with a larger map comes a larger chance that parts of the game won’t always hold up.

Players have been exploring every nook and cranny that Hyrule has to offer as they attempt to rustle up rare crafting ingredients or find obscurely hidden Koroks. In this instance, Reddit user coolestblue discovered a missing texture while scaling a mountain inThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, showing off the strange, wall-like portion of the rocks in a short video clip.

Exploration is one well-loved aspect of many games played fromthe third-person perspective, andThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wilddoesn’t disappoint, giving players plenty of ground to cover, even if that ground isn’t always 100% there. At first, the video clip from coolestblue shows the player sliding down a normal rocky outcrop on the mountainside, but a moment later they take a sharp turn to reveal the underside of the same outcrop, now rendered completely hollow. Next, they shimmy and jump up to the side of the missing texture, showing off the fact that it blends right back in with the rest of the mountain. Sliding back down so the underside is once again visible, coolestblue gives another look at the paper-thin appearance of the mountain texture, with the middle wide open to the sky.

Random, missing textures and in-game glitches aren’t uncommon, especially in larger, open-world games, though often the risk of having something break down is mitigated by taking longer in the development stage. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildhad a projected 2015 launch, which was delayed twice before the game ended up coming out in 2017. TheBreath of the Wildsequel has also been delayed, with Nintendo asking fans to be patient regarding the delay, so the game can be not just playable but enjoyable as well.

MakingThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildan open-world game was a way to take the franchise in a new direction, while remaining true to the components that make a solidZeldagame, such as the use of puzzles and item-specific boss fights. This meansthe delay ofBreath of the Wild 2could be a good thing, allowing Nintendo the time to create another massive game with little to no errors.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildis playable on Wii U and Switch.
