Civilization’s Civtember Should Be Big in 2023
Firaxis kicked off this Civtember celebration with a quick little promo video talking about what is to come. Firstly, it revealed thatSid Meier’s Civilization 6’s Leader Passwas finally launching on console after players had spent months requesting it. Along with that, the studio went on a bit of a nostalgia trip by showing olderCivgames while also alluding to the possible future of the series. While the video had no major announcements outside the Leader Pass, Civtember will likely bring with it loads of exciting news for fans.
One of the biggest things that could come out of this Civtember isan official announcement ofSid Meier’s Civilization 7. Players know that the next game is in development, but Firaxis has not shared any specific details about the project.Sid Meier’s Civilization 6released back in 2016 and there has not been a newCivgame since. This seven-year gap means it’s high time to reveal some small bits of information, and Civtember would be the best moment to do that.
The Civtember promo video also mentioned that Firaxis has a fewthings still in store forSid Meier’s Civilization 6. While that could have just been referencing the Leader Pass release and free update, there is a chance that the studio has even more up its sleeve. Fans may soon be treated to a slew of new updates akin to the New Frontier Pass or there could be a whole new wave of Leader Pass DLC on the horizon. Neither of these seem super likely as the post-launch content seems to be over, but there is always a chance Firaxis is not done with the strategy game just yet
Firaxis may also have some plans for futureSid Meier’s Civilization 6updates to keep the game alive during the long wait for the next game. These updates could simply come in the form of various balance patches, or they could include new optional game modeslike the many modes in the New Frontier Passes. The studio could even surprise players with an additional leader.
The least likely announcement this Civtember would probably be a brand-newspin-off game likeSid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth. While there is still a ton of potential for spin-offs in this franchise, it would feel like a strange announcement since players have waited seven years for a mainline game. It could be a great way to hold fans over until that next chapter, but Firaxis has made no indication that it wants to continue down the spin-off route. However, that does not rule out remasters.
There are a lot of different things Firaxis may be planning for Civtember, and hopefully it is all worth the hype. If anything, there may be sales or a game bundle or two around the corner. The franchise is celebrating its 32nd year, and that should mean an exciting month is in store for fans.
