InAnother Crab’s Treasure, the main crab (character) Kril will find all sorts of different items across the seafloor. One of the items you’ll find are calledBarbed Hooks. You might think this item can be used to grab onto hooks around the world, but that’s not the case. You’ll only be able to use Barbed Hooks after progressing a bit through the story.
How to Get Barbed Hooks in Another Crab’s Treasure
You’re more than likely to find at least a dozen Barbed Hooks before you’re even able to use them. They’re easy to collect, as they will appear as shiny objects around the ocean.
The item’s in-game description reads: “A weapon designed to reel in prey at a long distance, in combination with a sturdy piece of string. Even massive targets might be drawn in if struck at a weak point.”
How to Use Barbed Hooks in Another Crab’s Treasure
Spearfishing Skill
It turns out that the Barbed Hooks you’ve been collecting this whole time can only be used withthe Spearfishing skill. you may only unlock new skills by visiting The Moon Snail’s Domain and speaking to the NPC there. The skill will cost 20Umami Crystals. If you have yet to make it to the snail, just keep progressing through the story (orcheck out this guide on how to unlock skills and fast travel).
Even if you have a couple of Barbed Hooks in your inventory, you can only use two of them with the Spearfishing skill. It seems that once you rest at one of the fast travel shells, Kril will get two more uses back.
To use the newly acquired Spearfishing ability,face an enemy and hold the left trigger to aim. Once you let go of the trigger,you’ll toss the Barbed Hook at the enemy, and you’ll pull them in to deal massive damage to their Balance. If you attempt to hook a more formidable foe, you’ll need to play alittle fishing-esque mini-gameto pull them in.
