To close out the month, the team atVampire Survivorspulled back the curtain on their second expansion, titledTides of the Foscari. The DLC will be released in the coming weeks, just six months after the full release ofVampire Survivors, and will include new characters, items, weapons, and achievements for players to see and earn.
Created and developed by Luca “poncle” Galante,Vampire Survivorswas the runaway indie hit of 2022. Between its affordable price tag, old-school graphical style, and addictive gameplay, the game caught the attention of many gamers across the globe.Vampire Survivorsrecently took home the BAFTA Awardfor Best Game. Back in December,Vampire Survivorsalso took home “Best Debut Indie” at The Game Awards. With the iron still hot,Vampire Survivorswill release its second paid expansion just four months after the release of its first DLC,Legacy of the Moonspell.

Priced at $1.99 USD,Tides of the Foscariwill release on Thursday, April 13, and is now available to add to Steam wishlists. WhereLegacy of the Moonspellwas inspired by the mountains and folklore of Japan,Tides of the Foscarilooks to be closer toVampire Survivors' European roots. The expansion will include a new stage located in Western Europe, called Lake Foscari. Leaning heavily on the fantasy tropes prominent in games such asDungeons and Dragonsand theFinal Fantasyseries,Tides of the Foscariwill have 13new weapons and perks for players to pick from, ranging from textbooks to swords and projectiles. In addition, eight new characters will be available to unlock, including a warrior named Maruto, a mage named Eleanor, a thief named Keitha, and Lumiaire, the guardian of Lake Foscari.
In addition,Tides of the Foscariwill include seven new music tracks and 20 new achievements for players to aim for. However, this will force players that previously completedVampire Survivorsto re-earn 100% completion on their save files, as was the case withLegacy of the Moonspell. Nearly two months ago,Vampire Survivorsreleased “The Chaotic One” for free, which provided players with challenges inspired by theSonic the Hedgehogseries. With the game pulling inspiration from a myriad of popular series and titles, it remains to be seen what directionVampire Survivorswill take after the release ofTides of the Foscari.
Despitethe potential of a sequel or spiritual successor,Vampire Survivorswill release two expansions within six months of its initial release. With the support of fans driving both Galante and the game’s continued development,Vampire Survivorswill not fade from the spotlight anytime soon.
