After an impressive first season that continued expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe in cosmic directions,Lokiseason 2 looks like it will see the God of Mischief return for an even more bizarre, thrilling adventure. What gets even more exciting is that the whole cast will be returning, as confirmed by star Tom Hiddleston himself.
Lokiseason 1 saw Hiddleston’s anti-hero traveling through time to help fix the universe’s timeline and stop a greater threat after being brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA), an organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the sacred timeline. The series first premiered on Disney Plus last summer and would go on to receive rave reviews from critics and become the most-watched MCU series. It also became the first Marvel Studios series to earn a second season, something many fans are most definitely looking forward to.

Perhaps the credit for much of the series' success goes to the cast and their chemistry with one another, particularly between Hiddleston and Owen Wilson, who plays Mobius, an agent of the TVA. Now, in an interview onJimmy Kimmel Live!, Hiddleston seemingly confirms that the whole season 1 cast will be returning for season 2, including Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-1, and Tara Strong as the voice of Miss Minutes. Hiddleston added that he isthrilled to be shootingLoki season 2in his hometown of London, England.
While plot details for the new season have been kept under wraps, if the first season’s finale is any indication, Loki definitely has some serious time issues to fix. In that finale, Loki and Sylvie confront He Who Remains, a variant ofKang the Conqueror played by Jonathan Majors. After Sylvie sends Loki back to the TVA headquarters, she ultimately kills He Who Remains, unleashing a multiverse with alternate timelines. This storyline also allows Loki to continue his redemption arc, a big focus in season 1.
Following director Kate Herron’s departure, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has broughtMoon Knightdirecting duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead on board. This is a decision that most definitely seems fitting for the type of cosmic, otherworldly stories presented in a series likeLoki. Even withLokiseason 2 still ways away, the character may very likely appear in another one of the upcoming MCU projects.
While fans were hoping he would show up inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there’s still a great chance he will appear inThor: Love and Thunder, a film that releases in July and one where it would make sense to see him reunite with his on-screen brother, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Until he shows up again, fans will just have to relish inLoki’s first season all over again while getting hyped for season 2.
Lokiseason 1 is available to stream on Disney Plus.
