AMC has unveiled the title for their latest spin-off project for the popularThe Walking Deadseries involving Norman Reedus, who is on board for a deeper dive into his character Daryl inDaryl Dixonwith David Zable as showrunner.
The Walking Deadhas been winning fans on AMC for more than a decade, who are devoted to an evolving group of survivors in a post-zombie-apocalypse landscape. The show is completing the 11th season currently with a much-anticipated upcoming final eight episodes that debuted on October 2nd. Reedus' character Daryl has been a fan favorite since early in the show. The franchise has spawned countless adaptations, including comics, games, web series, and three prior spin-offs,Fear the Walking Dead,Walking Dead: The World Beyond,and the recentTales of the Walking Dead. Daryl Dixon is just one of many character-related spin-offs that are in development by AMC, particularly as the original show comes to an end.

Reedus unveiled the name of the new AMC series on Twitter recently asDaryl Dixon, of which he will be leading a new cast in a new world where Daryl finds himself in France. Franchise architect Scott M. Gimple teased (viaTotal Film), “Daryl is a fish out of water to start with. If Daryl finds himself with new people, he’s a fish out of water. In France, in a country that’s going through the apocalypse, [it’s] an entirely different thing.” Gimple also hinted that Daryl will be facing off against the faster-moving zombies created by a variant of the original infection seen inThe Walking Dead: The World Beyond.
Daryl, who remains one ofthe most popularWalking Deadcharactersfrom early on in the series, will no doubt draw in audiences of the franchise, who seem to be devouring the adaptations eagerly as fast as AMC can make them. Reedus' performance has put the actor on the map, leading to other roles in television and film, including a voice-over inThe Angry Birds Movieand a part inAlien Invasion S.U.M. 1. While the franchise world ofThe Walking Deadcontinues to grow, fans will be particularly interested in seeing the fate of one of their favorite characters long after the original show has been put to rest.
