There are over 100 shrines scattered around Hyrule inTears of the Kingdom, and finding them all is not for the faint of heart. Some shrines are easy to find, such as the teleport points for stables and villages. However, there are certain shrinesthat players may never come across without some serious searching.

There are a few reasons that a shrine can be difficult to find. A number of shrines inTears of the Kingdomeither require a puzzle to be solved or a green crystal to be returned to a shrine pad. Often, the shrines associated with these quests aren’t initially visible. This makes them easy to overlook, unless players have their sensor targeting Shrines of Light. Other hard-to-find shrines might be nestled somewhere sneaky. Only players who search the depths of every cave and the nooks ofall sky islandswill come across them. Discovering all the shrines in the game is an enormous task, but will allow players to make Link as tough as possible.

6Ninjis Shrine

This shrine is tough to find because it’s located in Great Hyrule Forest, which is difficult to traverse due to the Lost Woods' fog. The only way to discover that this shrine exists is to speak to Maca in Korok Forest, who will tell Link that it’s his special place. Link cannot get to the shrine, though, becauseonly Koroks can navigate the fog.

To reach this shrine, players will need to get to a sky island above Great Hyrule Forest and jump from it. Link will have to glide south of Korok Forest and land in a clearing with the shrine. Although this shrine isn’t particularly hard to reach once players know how, it’s easy to miss unless Link speaks to the Koroks hanging around the Deku Tree. There are a few other Koroks in that area, including Damia, who will give Link different quest to find other Shrines as well.

Joniu Shrine

5Joniu Shrine

Joniu Shrine isn’t impossible to find once players are aware of its location. However, many players may never come across it at all, unless they’re wandering around in the Lanayru area. Link’s sensor will pick up on this shrine from the Zora Skyview Tower. However, there are a lot of caves nearby that can mislead players.

Tears of the Kingdom’s Link paragliding into Starview Island

Joniu Shrine is located inside Ralis Channel cave, which can be found near Ralis Pond, northwest of Zora’s Domain. The tricky part of finding this shrine is that, unless players find the tunnel from the south entrance, it’s tough to know there’s a shrine there at all. Worse, even if players do find the shrine pad via the other entrance, they might have no idea how to activate it.

The south entrance has the green crystal at the mouth, and using this entryway will save players a lot of time and trouble. Link will have to build a raft with a few Zonai devices on it, including a steering stick, and sail against the current with the crystal attached to the boat. Eventually, Link will reach the shrine pad and can use the crystal to enter.

4Mayasiar Shrine

Some explorers may come across Mayasiar Shrine while exploring the sky islands for secrets. However, this shrine isn’t easy to stumble upon, because it’s completely hidden. Mayasiar Shrine is located above the Gerudo Highlands in a large sphere called Starview Island. Players will have to launch upwards via the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower and float to a nearby collection of islands where there’s a metal box-like platform, usually with a construct on it. Players can thenuse Zonai devicesto launch themselves higher in the sky and towards the giant sphere.

Once high enough, players can use the paraglider to fly down onto the island and enter via a hole in the top. Inside, there is a difficult puzzle involving beams of light and mirrors. Players will have to turn the mirrors precisely to light up the two yellow stones inside. This involves some thought and, no pun intended, reflection in order to complete. Once the puzzle is solved, a green crystal will appear and turn into Mayasiar Shrine.

3Kurakat Shrine

Kurakat Shrine is another hidden place that won’t reveal itself until Link has completed a tricky side quest. Kurakat Shrine is in Lanayru, in an unexpected spot to the far left of Rabia Plain and the rightmost part of Quatta’s Shelf. It isn’t close to any skyview towers, so players have to thoroughly explore the area in order tocome across it naturally.

Look for a lone steward construct that will tell Link a riddle in order for him access a secret Shrine of Light. This will unlock the ‘Dyeing To Find It’ side quest. This task asks players to look at a white pattern on the wall across from Link and spin a large structure to cover it. After a few spins, players will notice that it never fully aligns. Use Ultrahand to position a piece of wood to allow them to complete the quest. This must be done in the morning in order for the shrine to appear.

2Chichim Shrine

Chichim Shrine is in the Gerudo Desert. Link can find it in the Palu Wasteland area, directly southwest from the East Gerudo Ruins. Some players may not come across this shrine because it’s inside a sinkhole, which most players try to avoid. There’s a chance some gamers won’t explore this area of the desert at all, and even if they do, it requiressavvy use of Link’s abilities.

Link will have to jump into the sinkhole to discover the Ancient Gerudo Prison Ruins, and navigate the maze-like cells while opening and closing gates using Ultrahand to move the levers. There are Gibdos wandering around, meaning that playersearly in the gamemay want to return to this shrine later.

If players spend enough time exploring the ruins, they will see a shrine locked behind immovable gates. Use to Ascend to get to the floor above, where players will see a chest in front of two odd-looking slabs of stone. The chest is a well-placed distraction, but Link will have to use Ultrahand to move the slabs aside in order to drop into the shrine room.

1Suariwak Shrine

Suariwak Shrine is particularly difficult to find. Many players won’t even realize there’s a shrine until they find it, since unlocking it requires the completion of an unrelated quest. Another reason this shrine is so difficult to find is because players can only access it once they’ve retrieved the full Yiga Clan armor set.

Suariwak Shrine is located north of Gerudo Canyon, past a bridge in Koukot Plateau. The entrance is behind the waterfall, in between two Yiga Clan frogs. Upon entering and speaking to the blade master, Link will be told to go to five different locations and placeMighty Bananason different frog statues to become a blade master himself. Once this quest is complete, Link will gain access to the inner sanctum. Players will also discover the Suariwak Shrine in this area, through a gap in the wall which players might miss if they enter the room at the wrong angle.
