As far as innovations for next-gen consoles go, the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller is one of the biggest ones yet. It’s a major refinement over the DualShock 4, boasting a more ergonomic feel and a ton of new and improved features. It was also the first piece of PS5 hardware revealed after Sony suddenly released animage of the DualSensea few months back.

Now, fans will get their best look at it yet, with a hands-on presentation taking place tomorrow at 9 am PST as part of theSummer Games Festwith Geoff Keighley. Announced on Twitter today, the presentation will detail Keighley’s experience with the DualSense, and likely include some new information about the controller itself.

However, it isn’t clear just how deep into the nitty-gritty details of the controller Keighley will go. There are a number of things Keighley could choose to show off, and seeing the controller without some sort of gameplay to accompany it seems like a surefire way to disappoint viewers, so it’s possible fans get to see some short clips of games in action, but that’s not confirmed. There are likely some limitations as far as what Sony will allow Keighley to talk about, so content besides the controller is a mystery.

TheDualSense has been praised by multiple developers, and promises to improve gaming experiences in a couple of different ways. One of the biggest innovations is haptic feedback, which will make games feel more immersive in a player’s hand, letting them feel things like the swords clashing. That can have a major impact on a gaming experience, and Keighley’s input on how the device functions should be interesting.

PlayStation’s last State of Play was focused on games rather than just the controller, though it did finally reveal the design of the PS5, which was as dramatic of an overhaul as the DualSense was, if not more. Time dedicated to the controller is a good thing, though it’s a bit strange of an idea, as holding a controller is the only real way to get a good feel for it. Watching someone else handle may not have the intended effect.

Regardless, any new information is good information at this point, and the presentation gives PlayStation fans something to look forward to. It’s unlikely fans will get any major information like thePS5 price or release date, but one can dream.
