Season 5 of Netflix’sStranger Thingswill sadly be the last, and there is one character who could possibly come back for these final episodes. While many fans wish that Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) would return, that doesn’t seem likely given the fact that he dies in season 4, episode 9 called “The Piggyback.” And other fan-favorite characters who have been killed are definitely gone. No matter what happens in these last few episodes, The Party will have their hands full trying to save Hawkins, Indiana from evil.
While season 5 ofStranger Thingspromises action and an epic battle between Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), there could also be a familiar face from the past. Who could return in season 5 ofStranger Thingsand what could they contribute to the much anticipated final season?

Who Is Kali, AKA 008?
Kali Prasad (Linnea Berthelsen), or Eight, is another child who Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) experimented on. She left Hawkins National Laboratory before the Hawkins Lab Massacre of 1979, which is explored in season 4.
Eleven meets up with Kali/008 in episode 7 of season 2 called “The Lost Sister.” This is generally considered a pretty lackluster episode ofStranger Things. But while it isn’t a fan favorite, it still gives some important backstory and context to what life has been like for Eleven. She feels connected to Kali and likes knowing that there’s someone else in the world who she can rely on.

Eleven’s bestStranger Thingsquotesexplain her intelligence and willingness to live by her gut instincts. Eleven uses those instincts to locate Kali. She sees a warehouse in Chicago where Kali appears to be living. And when she gets there, she realizes that she is right. Eleven and Kali get along pretty well, but Eleven is understandably scared when Kali and her friends get into trouble with the police. Eleven realizes that she belongs in Hawkins and that she wants to live a more peaceful life. Eleven gets on a bus back to Hawkins and says she is “going home.”
For someStranger Thingsfans, “The Lost Sister” is one of the weakest episodes. This is mainly because it takes Eleven away from the main action of the show and offers up a side storyline. It’s a fair point asStranger Thingsis at its best when the main characters are together.Stranger Thingsseason 4 has great charactersand they are the most interesting when showing each other love and support. But at the same time, it’s possible to argue that it was compelling to learn more about Eleven’s past and to see her making a new connection.
Could Kali Return In Season 5?
Fans wonder if Kali/008 could return inseason 5of Stranger Thingsbecause Eleven will need all the help she can get to defeat Vecna. It’s definitely possible that Eleven could ask Kali for support. Kali is a tough character, and it seems like she would be more than willing to accept the challenge. Maybe Kali would show up in Hawkins as she and Eleven have definitely forged a strong connection over the years due to their time spent at Hawkins Lab.
IfStranger Thingsbrought back Eleven’s sister Kali/008, this would be a smart way to bring the show full circle. It would allow Eleven to complete the process of healing from her tough and challenging past while also meeting the future head-on. One thing is for sure: if Kali comes back, and she and Eleven fight Vecna, these moments will have some of thescariestStranger Thingsscenes. And because Kali is fearless, it’s possible to assume that she wouldn’t bat an eyelash at being face-to-face with Vecna. Eleven definitely needs someone who is incredibly brave and confident in her corner as this will be a battle unlike anything she has ever faced before.
Of course, no one knows what theStranger Thingsseason 5 storylines will be like. But the Duffer Brothers did speak about the show’s ending. According toNetflix Tudum, they said that they still have notes and plans from season 2, and they have been revisiting those.
Ross Duffer said, “But it was way too much — [five times] more ideas than we needed, or [ten times]. For Season 5, we’re pulling from a lot of those big Season 2 ideas… A lot of our big ending stuff has pulled from stuff that we thought was going to be in Season 2.”
Based on those comments, it seems possible that Kali could come back in season 5 ofStranger Things, since she was a big part of season 2. But untilseason 5 ofStranger Thingspremieres, this all remains a mystery.
