Splatoon 3’s Tableturf Battle mode is getting online play which will let players compete against each other. WithSplatoon 3already set to receive a new slew of weapons and maps, Tableturf Battle is starting to get the support many fans have been waiting for.
Tableturf Battle was revealed in theSplatoon 3Nintendo Directas aTetris-like competitive card game in which players compete in 1v1 battles against NPCs to fill in enough blocks on a board. It is similar in nature to theSplatoonseries' signature Turf War multiplayer mode except players now compete to fill up a board rather than the surface of a map. Its inclusion inSplatoon 3is most comparable toThe Witcher 3’s Gwent or Machine Strike inHorizon Forbidden Westas an in-depth minigame that players can get lost in.

This mode has gotten relatively less support in previousSplatoon 3updates, but this will change with next week’s launch of the Fresh Season update. Players will be able to play Tableturf Battle online against other human players through the upstairs tables seen in the multiplayer lobby as well as locally through the Shoal. This update will also bring 23 new cards that will give players more to look for when it comes to crafting thebestSplatoon 3Tableturf Battle deck.
Some of these new cards are designed after thenew weapons coming toSplatoon 3in Fresh Seasonsuch as the Z+F Splat Charger and Super Chump special on top of the older returning weapons like the N-ZAP ‘89. Three of these cards are alternate versions of Deep Cut which take after how they appeared inSplatoon 3’s single-player campaign. On top of that, cards based on the new and returning merchants of Inkopolis will appear, lining up perfectly with the release of the first wave of theSplatoon 3Expansion Pass.
Tableturf Battle is getting the treatment that many fans have been hoping for as it seemed to be less prioritized compared to the game’s other modes. However, there is still more that players hope to see, particularly forTableturf Battle to be included in theSplatoon 3catalogor for more cosmetic items to be obtainable through playing Tableturf Battle. With this new well of content and the upcoming release of the Expansion Pass, it is likely that fans of Tableturf Battle will have more content to enjoy in the future.
