TheSonic the Hedgehogfranchise is getting an official deck of tarot cards, based on the ones used by recurring supporting character, Amy Rose. While the franchise is best known for its video games, cartoons, comic books, and recently feature-length films, there’s still plenty of merchandise being created revolving around the blue blur. This ranges from action figures, plushies, and evenSonic-themed LEGO sets. One of the more unique pieces of merchandise coming out soon is an officially licensed recreation of Amy Rose’s Fortune Card deck.Amy Rose’s character in theSonicfranchisehas fluctuated quite a bit over the years, but has remained an integral part of the overall cast. One of the lesser-known facts about the character is that she believes a lot in fate, even having some ability in fortune-telling. This aspect was shown in the very early games, which is how she met Sonic himself, but was slowly dropped with subsequent appearances. Recent media likeSonic Originsand the IDW Comics series have gone back and revisited this part of her character, withOrigins' animated cutscenes and the IDW comics actually depicting the Tarot cards that she uses. It will also have custom artwork that convey these motifs, along with a comprehensive 128-page guidebook that fans can use to do their readings. Some of the early art was previewed as well, showing off three cards: the Master, the Statue Savior, and the Chao’s Fruit, all items that originated from theSonic the Hedgehogfranchise.
According to this solicitation, longtimeSonic the Hedgehogcomics writer Ian Flynnwill be making contributions to this deck, most likely writing the in-universe guidebook for fans to follow along to. Flynn’s tenure as the writer for the comics led to him being the English scriptwriter for the latestSonicgame,Sonic Frontiers, which was packed with references to past games and even the IDW comics. This deck is available for pre-order now, and will release on June 08, 2025.
