The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis one of the most influential games of all time. Gamers are still playingSkyrim10 years after its release, and it gets new a set of fans every time Bethesda re-releases the game. WhileSkyrimdebuted on seventh-gen consoles and PC, it has now been ported to PS5 and Xbox Series X alongside therelease ofSkyrim Anniversary Edition.

Players can buy multiplehouses inSkyrim, and Bethesda had released a new DLC that allowed users to further customize their homes. TheHearthfireDLC lets players build a house from scratch after buying a plot of land. Lakeview Manor, located in Falkreath Hold, is one of the options from this DLC, and it costs players 5,000 gold to purchase the land. Building a house can take a lot of time and effort, and players probably expect to be safe inside their homes. Unfortunately, one user found out that the walls of Lakeview Manor are just not secure enough.

A user named Wonkinns enters Lakeview Manor and sees multiple red dots on the compass. It looks like their home has been infiltrated by bandits and the background music suddenly changes to the combat theme fromThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Wonkinns has no chance against these bandits and is taken out in 2 hits despite seemingly wearing heavy armor. Thankfully,Skyrimautosaves regularly, so Wonkinns did not lose any progress due to this surprise attack.

Mostother homes inSkyrimare placed inside towns, but Lakeview Manor is located in the open world. As user SurvivalVet correctly points out, this video gives enough reasons to choose living inside city walls as opposed to building a house out in the open. Additionally, it looks like Wonkinns was playing on legendary, and they probably would’ve survived a bandit attack on a lower difficulty level.

Admetius jokingly uses the view of the lake as the silver lining of this situation, while others wish that the vanilla version ofSkyrimallowed players to have more guards.TheSkyrimhouse modwhich disables random encounters around player-owned properties sounds like a must-have for anyone choosing to live inside Lakeview Manor.

Such unexpected encounters, with many being bugs or glitches, are frequently found in the open world ofSkyrim. After all, players have witnessedgiants riding dragons inSkyrim, and it seems like these surprising events are just a part of the uniqueness of Bethesda’s open-world games.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
