After a quick introduction, the game drops players in the Squats, a former industrial district that is overrun by gang members. This introduction isn’t too much of a challenge butthe first boss inSifu, Fajar the Botanist, certainly can be. For those players who have made their way to through the first level but have struggled to defeat Fajar the Botanist, this guide is here to help.

Where Is Fajar The Botanist?

As players have assumed, Fajar the Botanist is at the very end of theSifu’s first level, the Squats. Players will find the original route is filled to the brim with gang members and so it is recommended that fighting this boss comes after their first attempt at the level.

This is because the Squats hasa shortcut that makes the route toSifu’s first boss much easier. With the shortcut opened, players now only have a little over a dozen enemies between them and their first boss fight.

How To Beat Fajar The Botanist Phase One?

Once players have found their way into the boss arena they need to quickly come to grips with the scenery. There are a number of plant stands all over this area and Fajar will use these to his advantage, sliding underneath or hopping over the top.

Players can parry most of Fajar’s moves inSifuexcept those based off the environment. In this first phase of the fight, players can either stay close enough to avoid activating these attacks, keep the battle focused on the parts of this area without these half walls, or time their dodges perfectly to mitigate this risk.

A useful tool that beginnerSifuplayers may not knowthey can take advantage of in this fight is the focus move. This is the attack that glows blue on the left side of the screen (activated by the F key on a keyboard). These moves give players an immediate opportunity to put Fajar the Botanist on the defensive.

With enough hits, the player will be prompted to deal a critical blow to the boss and enter the next phase.

How To Beat Fajar The Botanist Phase Two?

This new phase comes with a completely new environment. Players are surrounded by bamboo trees and Fajar is now armed with a large blade. The first thing that players need to be aware of is the new attack in which Fajar hides within the bushes and leaps out. It is simple enough to know where the boss will jump out from (there will be a clear circle indicating the area), but players still need to time their dodge just right. All other moves can be parried or dodged as long as a player has learned the timing.

Fajar lives up to his Botanist title in this fight by instantly growing bamboo and using it to launch towards the player but, with enough hits and parries, players will be once more prompted to deal a critical blow to end the fight for good.Sifudoes allow players to spare the bosses in the gameand, for players interested in doing that here, they need to stick with defensive moves and parries in the second phase.

By doing so and by avoiding the opportunities for a critical strike, players can spare this boss and give themselvesan opportunity to unlockSifu’s true ending. Either way, this ends the first boss battle of the game and players will carry the age they were at the end of this fight into the next level.
