Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2may have plenty more customization options in store for its players according to recent rumors, which suggest that the game may soon receive fully customizable killcams. This builds on top of an already substantial list of optional cosmetics and unlocks that’s bound to grow bigger still with the release of Season 1 content on November 16.
It’s immediately worth pointing out thatModern Warfare 2wouldn’t be the firstCODto have a feature such as this in store. Namely,Call of Duty: Vanguardprovided players with a slew of killcam themes, though leaks suggest that the new iteration of this system would go far beyond anything fans had seen before.

Call of Dutyleaker RalphsValve on Twitter has said thatModern Warfare 2is getting editable and extensively customizable killcams sometime in the future. He claims that players would be able to select between their Play of the Game or Final Kill videos to cap the match off, and that killcams, specifically, would offer options to add extra graphics, GIF files, templates, messages, and audio samples. However, players excited about this feature ought to note that it is unlikely to be a part ofModern Warfare 2’s Season 1.
There’s no real ETA provided for customizable killcams, and though RalphsValve seems entirely certain about them coming to the game, it’s always worth keeping a pinch of salt at hand when it comes to rumors and leaks. At the same time,Activision did patent a custom replay systemearlier this year, giving further credence to the claims that are being made here. It certainly wouldn’t be out of place for the franchise, andVanguarddid set the precedent ahead of time.
Whether true or not, it’s clear thatModern Warfare 2players ought to be excitedabout the future of the game and the franchise as a whole. With a wealth of different game modes and optional features available, it seems that Activision is intent on loading the game with as much content as humanly possible. If the developer, Infinity Ward, manages to attend to the players' feedback and fix some of the game’s underlying issues, great things await.
In fact,Modern Warfare 2may receive a premium DLCin 2023, upgrading the game further still with another substantial batch of extra content. This, too, remains yet to be seen, however, and it’s still unclear whether 2023’s “full premium release” in theCall of Dutyfranchise is a massive expansion pack, or an entirely new series entry.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
