TheResident Evil 4remake isn’t just about infected villagers, as the game also has vicious werewolves, but there is a trick that for those who don’t want to take on the four-legged beasts in Chapter 3. Given recent and upcoming releases in the genre, right now is an exciting time to be a horror game fan. From modern takes on iconic entries to brand-new releases from more independent studios, scary gaming is very much in vogue right now.
Capcom’s recent reimagining is no exception, and while it retains what made the 2005 original such a hit, the remake ofResident Evil 4also brings about some changes. Whether it’s removing some of the filler for a more streamlined experience or a redesign of some of the enemies, there’s enough to make the newRE4feel fresh but without undoing what made the OG game iconic. One thing that has been given a facelift is the wolves, which now look a lot more ferocious.

However, for those who don’t want to take them on, specifically in the third chapter ofResident Evil 4, there is a way to stop the werewolves from spawning. As spotted by The Gamer, Reddit user kylespelledcaio has posted a brief clip from their playthrough which shows the trick in action. Essentially, just before Leon returns to the village, he can be seen shooting at a Ganado who’s standing on a pile of rocks along the path. Carrying on as normal, the player approaches said village, which then triggers the tower to explode as normal. At this point, a pack of Plagas-infected wolves should spawn and begin attacking. However, the footage shows that they are nowhere to be seen.
Killing this enemy on the way to the village seems like it would be insignificant, but it seems to be what stops the wolves from appearing. However, as others in the thread have pointed out, this particular Ganado does not stay around for long, so players have little time to take him out. It’s entirely possible, therefore, that this Ganado is the one responsible for setting the wolves on Leon. There are severaltricks that can be employed inResident Evil 4, including ones that make light work of boss fights, and it will be interesting to see other ways fans can use exploits in the remake to make it easier.
Within the first two days of release,Resident Evil 4sold millions of copies. It’s become one of the highest-rated games of 2023 so far, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s quite the challenge to take something as beloved as the 2005 version ofRE4and give it a successful new lease on life, but Capcom seems to have knocked it out of the park.
Resident Evil 4is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
