The recentPokemon-themed Nintendo Direct presentation featured a lot of exciting information about the upcoming Isle of Armor and Crown TundraPokemon SwordandShieldexpansions, but the first of those won’t be available until June 2020. Luckily forPokemon SwordandShieldfans who can’t wait for the expansions, an update coming to the games today will give them a small taste of what to expect.
An update will be rolling out toPokemon SwordandShieldplayers today that will let them interact with their new rivals from The Isle of Armor expansion.Pokemon Swordplayers will be able to meet with Klara at Wedgehurst Station, whereasPokemon Shieldplayers will meet with their rival Avery at the same location. Talking to them will trigger a cut-scene that will in turn lead to an encounter with Galarian Slowpoke, which is native to the Isle of Armor and has wandered to the Galarian region mainland.

Pokemon SwordandShieldplayers then have the opportunity to catch Galarian Slowpoke and add it to their roster. However, they won’t be able to evolve it just yet. There will be an item that players can obtain in the Isle of Armor expansion itself that will allow them to evolve Galarian Slowpoke to Galarian Slowbro, whereas an item in The Crown Tundra expansion will evolve Galarian Slowpoke to Galarian Slowking. What these items are exactly has yet to be revealed.
ThePokemon SwordandShieldexpansionswill add more Pokemon than just Galarian Slowpoke. They will also be bringing back a number of missing Pokemon that weren’t available in theSwordandShieldbase games, including many of the missing legendary Pokemon.
New legendary Pokemonare also coming toPokemon SwordandShieldin the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra expansions. Isle of Armor is adding the fighting-type Pokemon Kubfu, whereas Crown Tundra will be adding Calyrex, a psychic- and grass-type Pokemon.
More information on the new Pokemon as well as Galarian Slowpoke and its evolution process should come to light as we near theIsle of Armor’s June 2020 release date.Pokemonfans should stay tuned for more details in the months to come.
