Once the main Community Day event period is over, Pokemon GO normally launches a special four-star raid battle that increases shiny appearance rates after achieving a hard-fought victory.

A newPokemon GOpost from Niantic confirms that Grubbin will be the featured Pokemon for the September 2023 Community Day event later this month. Grubbin will appear much more often in the wild inPokemon GOwith a greater chance of encounter a shiny variant from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time on Saturday, September 23. During the event, players who capture a Grubbin and evolve Charjabug to Vikavolt will be granted the exclusive Volt Switch Fast Attack skill. Moreover, the Grubbin-themed Community Day Special Research story “Plugging Along” will be available inPokemon GO’sin-game shopfor $1. Alternatively, players may redeem the new Special Research by using a gift ticket.
In addition to the new Special Research, numerous bonuses will be active during the three-hour Community Day period. These limited-time bonuses include 3x XP boosts, double Candy drops, one additional Special Trade, and a 50% reduction in Stardust costs while trading. Players may also participate in special Charjabug four-star raid battles on September 23 at 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM local time. Completing the new four-star raid battle grants boosted Grubbin encounter rates for 30 minutes.
Niantic’s latest Community Day announcement comes just two days removed from theCharmander September 2023 Community Day Classic eventinPokemon GO. The Grubbin Community Day event should be another valuable opportunity to level up Pokemon and earn more rewards than normal. Vikavolt will likely be a sought-after Pokemon in trades due to its Volt Switch skill, so players may also benefit greatly from trading.
After capturing a shiny Grubbin,Pokemon GOplayers mayshow off their Pokemon in a PokeStop Showcase. These Showcases will grant even more rewards such as Stardust, Great Balls, and Hyper Potions, which are helpful items for players that decide to join the Community Day festivities.
