It has been a long time coming sincePokemonfans called loudly for remakes of the fourth generation of critters, and lo and behold, the Pokemon Company delivered.Pokemon BrilliantDiamondandShining Pearlare the firstPokemongames to ever be made by a studio that is not Game Freak, which is at the moment busy crafting the vibrantopen world ofPokemonLegends: Arceus. The remakes are now in development with ILCA Inc. working on the titles, and they should drop later on in 2021 for the Nintendo Switch.
Pokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlwill be faithful remakes according to Game Freak, and the games should retain all of the elements from the original titles, albeit in a slightly different graphic framework. Back when both were announced,Pokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlsparked debates on whether players should pick one or the other, and if the games would eventually include features fromPokemon Platinumas well. Not much is known regarding the actual differences between the two remakes, but seeing as they are going to stay true to the originals, it is likely thatPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlwill differ similarly.

Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl: Which Pokemon Will They Feature?
Pokemongames are known to come as two or more titles per generation, each having a few assets that are unique to it, and that of course includes the little creatures one can encounter, catch, and train.Pokemon DiamondandPearldid the same thing, with a set of Pokemon being limited to one game, and another being available only to the other. It’s likely thatPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlwill preserve the status quoofDiamondandPearl, and that only a few little changes will be made.
As such, here is a list of the exclusive Pokemon that trainers could find in each game, starting withPokemon Diamond:

As forPokemon Pearl, players could find, instead:
These Pokemon were version-exclusive, and as such, they should help players delve into the game that contains the highest number of critters they like, or choose the version with a few Pokemon they wouldn’t want to give up. This includes the cover Pokemon for each game; Dialga forBrilliant Diamondand Palkia forShiningPearl, as they are legendaries only obtained through trading with another trainer. This is often abig factor in choosing whichPokemongame to grab, andPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlare no exception, making it a question of either aesthetic preference between the two or one based on the Pokemon’s types.
Choosing one betweenPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlcan also depend on other factors, though, like extra elements that are not necessarily tied to the generation four critters. Still, in the case that this list does not help, there are more differences (either likely or something that could be) between the games to hopefully ease and influence the final choice.

Possible Returning Features In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl
At this stage it is not known whether the aforementioned Pokemon (or more Pokemon from the Sinnoh Pokedex) will haveregional forms introduced withPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShiningPearl, considering the concept was first introduced in generation seven. This remains a possibility, though, and it would be interesting to see new forms for beloved critters in the region of Sinnoh and see what they could look like and change into. If that proves to be the case, then it’s likely that the regional variants will differ based on the version of the game.
Furthermore, considering how cooler the climate in the region of Sinnoh is, and a reduced amount of Fire Pokemon found in the wilds, it is likely that some critters of this type will inherit an Ice form. This could extend to Pokemon like thePearl-exclusive Houndour and Houndoom, or Magby, Magmar, and Magmortar. Ponyta and Rapidash are unlikely to receive a regional form if that happens to be a thing inBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearl, as they just got aGalarian form inPokemon SwordandShield.
Another thing that is pure speculation at this point is thatPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlcould bring back Pokemon from other generations, even ones that were not out yet back whenDiamondandPearllaunched.Pokemon SwordandShielddid something similar in the form of starters from generation one and generation seven becoming available in the first DLC for the titles,Isle ofArmor.
BeatingSwordandShieldawards players with a Charmander to train, and inIsle of Armor, both Squirtle and Bulbasaur make a return. Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio also make a return if players manage to find 100 of the missing Halolan Diglett, and they are awarded based on the generation eight starter that they chose.
With this in mind, it’s easy to see how more Pokemoncould be added toBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearlbeyond the ones from the original Pokedex of Diamond and Pearl. If that happens, it is likely that some of these friendly creatures will end up being version-exclusive for eitherBrilliant DiamondorShiningPearl, and that may further complicate or facilitate the choice. Ultimately, this is mostly speculation, so the choice can be strategic or dictated by one’s preferences. As such, which game to pick betweenBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearlis more plausible to be something every fan or new player should decide on their own.
Pokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlwill arrive in late 2021 on the Switch.
