One unfortunateOverwatch 2player has shared a clip revealing a puzzling bug bound to cause problems for players trying to enjoy Push, the new game mode introduced withOverwatch 2. While the aforementioned glitch surely doesn’t affect every player, it’s certain to have a negative impact on those who do experience it.
The new game mode simply named “Push” has been met with varying responses from the community. Essentiallyreplacing the Assault game mode removed inOverwatch 2, Push tasks players with escorting a large, friendly robot on its way to push a barricade towards the enemy team’s spawn area. The two teams will have to battle each other to gain control of the robot, leaving the winners to be whoever pushes the barricade the furthest during the game.

However, the user bipolarbear_1 on Reddit pointed out a rare connectivitybug that can completely turn your progress in a Push game on its head. The attached clip shows the player being disconnected from the game briefly before being returned on the side of the enemy team, who they were previously winning against by a wide margin. This meant that they had to then attempt to undo the progress they had previously made and push the barricade all the way back to their former spawn point.
Though this issue is reported to be quite uncommon, there have been many similar problems related toserver stability and connectivity since the launch ofOverwatch 2. Many fans may have already experienced a strange bug that can spontaneously cause them and the rest of the lobby to be taken out of a game and put into a brand new one without any warning. Issues such as these have been seen to occur to all players regardless of their own internet speed, suggesting the problem likely arises from an unsolved issue with the game servers.
Many who were amused at the Reddit user’s misfortune mentioned in the comments that this problem is comparable to the notorious autobalancing feature that is commonly seen inTeam Fortress 2, another team-based shooter game. Although this specific issue doesn’t commonly occur, some players remain wary of participating inranked competitive matches ofOverwatch 2due to fear of connectivity issues unfairly impacting their ranking.
The new Push mode has been another divisive matter in itself for the community. While it seems to have gone down well with most players, some still have their reservations, claiming that the mode needs some tuning if Blizzard hopes to bring out the best in it.Overwatch 2has been criticized for its range of bugs and server issuessince launch, but Blizzard’s diligence in responding to them should leave players assured that problems such as this one should be resolved in one of the upcoming patches.
