While not much about it was known until recently, it was brought up once again inOne Piecechapter 1086 in a significant manner and quite a lot about it was revealed to the fans, finally. This family bloodline is a very important one and will play a key part in the final saga ofOne Piece.
The Introduction Of The Figarland Family
Unbeknownst to some, the Figarland Family was actually not introduced to the fans inOne Piecechapter 1086. Instead, the family made its way toOne Piece Film: Redfor the very first time. Oda has taken a habit of introducing canon elements in his recent movies. For instance, inOne Piece: Stampede, Oda revealed the fact that Roger was planning to have a son and he even put the conversation exchange between him and Rayleigh upon the Oro Jackson which appeared later in the manga.
At the same time, Oda also made a reveal inOne Piece: Stampedebefore doing so in the manga and that is the name of the Final Island, Laugh Tale. With Stampede, it was already established that Oda isn’t against the idea of introducing canon elements in his movies, and withOne Piece Film Red,he did so once again. Not only did Oda introduce Uta to the fans, who, later on, made an appearance as a silhouette in the manga as well, but he also introduced an intriguing family, known as the Figarland Family.

The Figarland Family was mentioned for the very first time inOne Piece Film: Redby the Five Elders.Upon hearing about Uta being Shanks' daughter, they quickly drew a connection between Uta and the Figarland Family, believing that she has royal blood flowing through her veins and that she is an essential part of the Celestial Dragons.
The Figarland And God Valley
Simply put, the Figarland Family is a royal bloodline that exists in the world ofOne Pieceand has existed even centuries ago. By the looks of it, they were a part of the 20 Families that existed in the world ofOne Pieceduringthe Void Centurywho collaborated to take down the Ancient Kingdom once and for all. This is confirmed by the fact that, in One Piece 1086, the Figarland Family is revealed to be a part of the Celestial Dragon bloodline, meaning that they stem directly from the 20 Kings and they are also among the very few family names that the fans already know, when it comes to the Celestial Dragons.
It is believed that before moving to Marijoa, the Figarland Family lived on God Valley. This island was brought up for the very first time during the Wano arc through Sengoku. For some reason, the Celestial Dragons and their slaves were also presenton God Valley 38 years ago.Perhaps, the Figarland Family did not reside in Marijoa entirely, which is why they still had a place in God Valley as well. On that fateful day, 38 years ago, Rocks D. Xebec decided to attack God Valley with his group and that is where Roger and Garp joined forces to take him down.

Shortly after, God Valley was completely erased from the face of the earth through some unknown means and although one would believe that all traces of the Figarland Family would also be erased, that wasn’t the case. The Celestial Dragons were, as mentioned by Sengoku, protected and they currently live in the Holy Land of Marijoa.

Saint Garling Figarland
InOne Piece1086 it was revealed that 38 years ago, the King of God Valley was none other than a descendant of the Figarland Family, named Saint Garling Figarland. On the day of the God Valley Incident, Garling Figarland was most likely present and that is who Rocks wanted to attack. However, as Sengoku mentioned, the Celestial Dragons were protected by the Navy, inadvertently through the combination of Roger and Garp. The two joined forces to take down Rocks and ended up saving the Celestial Dragons. Saint Garling Figarland, who was the King of God Valley, subsequently moved to Marijoa, where he has been living ever since.
He appears to be a very old man at this point, however, at the same time, he also appears to be powerful. Currently, he holds the position of the leader of the Holy Knights, who are believed to be a part of the Celestial Dragons, great enough to pass judgment on even those carrying the blood of the First 20. In One Piece 1086, fans saw Garling Figarland execute Saint Mjosgard, who stood up for the rights of the Fishmen and Merfolk, and also protected Princess Shirahoshi on two different occasions.

By the looks of it, Garling Figarland is a very cruel person as he believes that the normal people who dwell on the Blue Sea and under our trash and those who protect them are even lower than trash. That was his judgment on Donquixote Mjosgard, who is likely to be dead already.
Shanks And The Figarland Family
Judging by the major revelation made inOne Piece Film: Red,Shanks also has a connection to the Figarland Family. And, this connection doesn’t seem to be a complicated one. Shanks is a member of the Figarland Family, meaning he is also a Celestial Dragon, however, he chose to live his life as a pirate. This was confirmed inOne Piece Film Redon two various occasions.
The very first of these waswhen the Five Eldersheld a conversation about the Figarland Family and Uta. According to them, Uta would have had Figarland blood if she was Shanks’s trueborn daughter, which would only happen if Shanks himself was a member of the Figarland Family.
The second instance this was confirmed was after the events of God Valley, where the Roger Pirates found Shanks in a treasure box, just like how Shanks found Uta later on. It is already confirmed that the Roger Pirates found Shanks on God Valley after the God Valley Incident and decided to raise him by themselves. This could very well mean that Shanks is the child of Saint Garling Figarland, and also a former Prince.
Furthermore, this would also explain how Shanks was able to get inside the Holy Land of Marijoa and seek an audience with the Five Elders on quick notice. It would also explain why Sengoku stopped the Paramount War when Shanks entered the fray. Finally, all major revelations about Shanks are slowly being made and fans already know that he will be a major player in the final Saga ofOne Piece.
