AsWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightcomes to a close, fans are eagerly anticipating the next chapter of this exciting fantasy world. Dubbed the Worldsoul Saga, this newera will see players go on whole new adventures to new and familiar locations as they fight to save Azeroth from disaster. And all of that fun will start with the release of The War Within, which promises to shake up much ofWorld of Warcraftfor the better.

Perhaps one of the biggest additions toWorld of Warcraftwill beThe War Within’s new Warbands feature. This feature is set to fix one of the MMO’s biggest problems, the lack of a lot of account-wide content. Now, every character the player has will be tied together with new reputations, renowns, a bank, and their massive collections of items. While that all sounds extremely exciting, there is actually one lesser-known addition that stands out among the rest, and that comes in the form of the XP boosts that will be introduced with this new feature.

The War Within Will Make the Alt Leveling Process Significantly Better

The War Within is Adding XP Boosts to the Mix

For years,World of Warcraftplayers have leveled numerous different characters during theirAzeroth adventures. Sometimes, players want to try out different classes, races, or factions. Other times, they simply want to shake things up a bit and experience the initial leveling process all over again. Whatever the case may be, veteran players have likely built up a hefty roster of characters over the years. However, up until now, there really did not seem to be much benefit outside different stories or transmog.

WoW’s War Withinis set to change that, as it seems like the Warbands will come with a new XP boost tied to how many characters players create. Through datamining, players have discovered that there are new achievements that will grant XP boosts in 5% increments up to 25%. These achievements are earned when players level two characters up to max level, followed by three, then four, and finally, five max-level characters. While it remains to be seen how it will work, the idea alone sounds fantastic.

These XP Boosts Will Give WoW Players a Reason to Have More Characters

These new XP boosts seem to be the perfect incentive for players to level new alts all the way to level 80. With each one, the leveling process will get easier and quicker. Plus, the new Warbands feature also means that these characters feel more connected than ever before. So, most players will likely be building large rosters anyway so they might as well get some XP boosts in the process.

Some veteran players may notice that this is not the first timeWorld of Warcrafthas included a way for players to speed up leveling. Years ago, the primary way of leveling alts was by using heirlooms. These heirlooms were sets of armor that would scale with the player and give them XP boosts up to a certain level, which depended upon the tier that they were. Butwhen Shadowlands was released, Blizzard made the extremely controversial decision to remove the XP boosts as leveling was apparently getting over 50% faster. However, after two expansions, it seems to finally be giving players a worthy replacement.

Just like with Dragonflight before it, a lot of The War Within sounds like Blizzard’s way of listening to its playerbaseafter Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlandsfell flat. These XP boosts seem like an extension of that, and if they work as well as they sound, then they could be a true game-changer. Not only will it incentivize players to level new alts, but it will also make the process feel even more rewarding. And with the rumors of new races on the horizon, it seems like the perfect time for an addition like this.
