The latest information about the Nintendo Switch 2comes from YouTuber Nate the Hatewho has had credible leaks in the past. This time, he talks about the alleged showcasing of the Nintendo Switch 2 demo behind closed doors at this year’s Gamescom. It is believed that Nintendo showed off some demos running on targeted hardware for the Switch 2 at Gamescom to some developers. These demos reportedly included a souped-up version ofBreath of the WildandThe MatrixUnreal Engine 5 tech demo with DLSS.
Nate the Hate talked about the performance on the Nintendo Switch 2 and said that there were no load times inBreath of the Wild. This is surprising considering that the game launched with the original Switch, but it had long load times and sometimes other performance issues like frame drops. The video also points out that the game was using DLSS 3.1 instead of DLSS 3.5 as was initially believed.
The video goes on to mentionThe MatrixUnreal Engine 5 supposedly running on targeted specs similar to the Switch 2. The tech demo that launched for the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles in 2021 was said to be performing better on the demo device (with specs targeted for the Switch 2) than the other two non-portable consoles. The demo reportedly showcased advanced ray tracing that suggests Epic (creator of Unreal Engine) is working on some version of UE 5 that’s running on the next-generation Switch.
This comes as promising news for Nintendo fans, especially considering theSwitch 2 is believed to be backward compatible. The new hardware seems to bring a significant leap in performance compared to the predecessor, which to be fair, is still going strong after over six years. Nintendo has quite a few new titles coming to the Switch this year and early next year includingSuper Mario Bros. Wonder(October 20), aSuper Mario RPGremake (mid-November), and a newWarioWare(November 3).
