This past May Netflix had uploaded a similar video on their YouTube channel which went into great detail on the origins andsome miscellaneous facts around the monstersseen in the first half of season 1. This time around, the bestiary’s chapter two goes over basilisks, hirikkas (or maybe Gremlins for that matter), shape-shifting dragons, ghouls, and poleviks, all with commentary from showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich.
Netflix’s first cryptozoology video got over 1.4m views on YouTube, provingThe Witcher’s lore and inspirations are something fans are deeply interested in. Especially when done so masterfully by taking real-world examples or exploring the historical origins of just how humans came up with the sometimes thousand-year-old ideas that inspired such creatures.
