Nathan Drake is one of the quippiest characters in all gaming history. It’s one of the things that fans of theUnchartedseries love most about it since so many games have stoic protagonists that don’t talk in situations that seemingly demand remarks. Sam fromDeath Strandingis one such example.

It makes sense for Nate to be chatty in theUnchartedfilm too because he is played by Tom Holland. Tom, of course, also playsSpider-Man, one of the most talkative characters in comic history. It was a match made in heaven. These eight lines are some of the best in the movie and do contain some movie spoilers.

8”Oh Crap”

Nate says this throughout the movie. It’s one ofhis favorite linesfrom the games except that he tends to say “oh crap” four times as much in dire situations. Nate says “oh sh*t” in the film and games as well but not as often.

It’s more fun to hear Nate say the more family-friendly version. Even though he is like a serial killer, gunning down hundreds of enemies in each game, Nate keeps his tongue relatively clean. That should be worth something.

7“Oh My God That Was Purely Reactive”

This quote isrelated to Nate’s killer tendencies in the games. It’s one of the most memed aspects of his character. How can this fun-loving goofball of a thief be so cold-blooded? The film seemingly wants to correct this bloodthirsty behavior.

Nate doesn’t kill throughout most of the movie. When he does, it is purely by accident. This quote comes up when he kicks a guy off of some plane cargo to his horror. He didn’t mean to kill him at all. It looked purely reactive, as Nate says.

6”I Don’t Know Who Invented The Cigarette”

Nate is full of fun facts in the games, and this is one of several aspects theUnchartedmovie nails. The kid knows his history. This is shown off first when he is bartending for his first customer.

Late on, when his customer lights up a cigarette, Nate says they were invented by someone named Cigaretti. It’s a joke, although there are weirder things in history (likehow sandwiches came into existence). Maybe there was a Cigaretti too. Nateloves solving puzzlesand maybe he should get to the bottom of this mystery.

5”Pretty Sure He Just Threatened To Kill Me”

Nate has an intense encounter with the main villain of the film, Moncada, as they are looking at the golden cross together. They have a quick conversation ending in how Moncada’s family has had a lot of blood on their hands.

After Moncada leaves, Sully asks Nate how things went, which the latter responds with the death threat. This scene is also great because Sully roasts Nate for putting his finger to his ear. Sully makes Nate look like he is some sort of lunatic talking to voices in his head.

4”I’m Sorry?”

Nate’s main goal during the auction sequence in the movie is to cut the power. This seems simple enough until Nate gets caught by a large Scottish man, one with a heavy accent too. After the man threatens Nate, that’s when he apologizes.

This thug tries to intimidate Nate again during their fight, but the protagonist still can’t get a grasp on his dialogue. It’s hard to tell what is rougher for Nate: the dialogue or the fighting. Nate isn’t muchwithout his weapons.

3”Why Does It Always Have To Be Nuns”

Uncharted,as a series, borrows heavily from old adventure films likeIndiana Jones. This line in the movie could be a parody of one of Indy’s more infamous lines. “Why does it always have to be snakes.”

The man is a fearless explorer except when it comes to these slithering reptiles. Nate has a fear of nuns because he grew up in a strict catholic orphanage. They could also be thought of as the reason Sam left which troubles Nate deeply. In his mind, they are just as creepy as snakes.

2”You’re Only One Inch Taller Than Me, Max”

Nate and Sully’s bickering is a constant throughout the film. This line comes toward the end of the movie when they are tearing each other apart for little things. Their heights inthe game seriesare about the same as well.

It’s funnier to see in the movie since Mark Wahlberg is barely taller than Tom Holland at 25. Height isn’t everything, though, and it makes Nate more scrappy in theUnchartedfilm universe.

1”What’s That Thing On Your Face?”

The one comic thing missing from Sully inUnchartedis his mustache. That and his cabana shirts and cigar. He gets a cigar and his mustache inthe final locationof the movie. It does not look great though. That’s why Nate starts laughing and asks what’s on his face. Was this mustache groomed poorly on purpose as a joke for the film?

Whether the underwhelming mustache was by design or not, it makes for an amusing moment in the movie. Hopefully, if a sequel happens, Sully’s mustache gets more time in the spotlight.
