The Lockwood 680 is one of the new shotguns that came with the launch ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and it’s already proven itself to be extremely effective in terms of sheer power and consistency. There are a couple of build options to rock with it, but there’s something special to be had with this weapon, even with the default buckshot rounds.
The following is a Lockwood 680 build that candominate close-quarter fightswith its snappy handling and tight hipfire spread, making it perfect for smallModern Warfare 3maps like Shipment and Meat. It’s not that shabby inWarzoneeither, thanks to its high damage and mobility.

Updated July 13, 2025 by Marc Santos:The Lockwood 680 remains a strong and popular option among shotgun users in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 4, especially in tight maps like Meat, Stash House, and Das Haus. However, the gun did receive two notable nerfs in the previous seasons, and they have affected its performance significantly. This guide has been updated to provide a new build that works around those nerfs, providing players with an effective Lockwood 680 build that can still one-shot opponents in close range without them putting them at risk of getting gunned down first.
Compared tootherMW3shotguns like the Haymaker, the Lockwood 680 fires significantly slower due to being pump-action. However, it can also kill opponents in one hit to the chest, assuming that all pellets connect. This build is designed to give the weapon improved hipfire accuracy, more consistent one-shots via tighter shot groupings, and faster mobility overall at the expense of increased recoil per shot.

The setup above works best when players aim down sights, though it still works perfectly well even when firing from the hip. Previously, it used the Lockwood Defender Heavy Long Barrel because it increased the gun’s pellet count per shot (as shown on the image above), but this has since been patched out of the game. The Lockwood 680 now only fires six pellets regardless of how large its ammo capacity is. We now use the Bryson Hammer Forged Long Barrel for faster movement and ADS speeds.
Additionally, the build used to have the STOVL laser mounted on its side. Now, it’s been replaced with the Kimura RYL33 Laser Light to compensate for the Sprint-To-Fire speed penalty incurred by the new barrel attachment. This attachment will give away your position when aiming, though this shouldn’t be a problem since you won’t be aiming for long with a shotgun anyway.
To complete this Lockwood 680 loadout, bring the following:
Infantry Vest paired with Covert Sneakers will let you run around the map faster without your footsteps getting heard. Alternatively, you can use Stalker Boots for faster strafe and ADS movement speeds. Meanwhile, Commando Gloves will let players reload while sprinting to reduce downtime between firefights. For the rest of the loadout slots, pick whichever ones you want. Feel free to pickany of the other vests inMW3if you think the Infantry Vest isn’t worth taking.
InWarzone, the Lockwood 680 build remains mostly the same. However, as with all shotguns, it’s better off used as a situational secondary weapon for fast-paced indoor duels. Make sure there’s plenty of cover around so SMGs like the WSP Swarm can melt all of your health away in a single torrent of shots. Pair the Lockwood 680 with a good all-rounder like the BAS-B to stay competitive at medium range.
