The actor responsible for voicing the legendary cyborg ninja Raiden from theMetal Geargames has hinted that the fans of the franchise may have something to look forward to. While Konami hasn’t provided any concrete information about what it might or might not be doing with the IP in the background, a series of recent rumors has suggested that a project or two may be underway after all.A classic gaming franchise,Metal Gear Solidhas been set by the wayside for a number of years at this point, with Konami seemingly uninterested in leveraging the IP in any meaningful way. After Hideo Kojima himself penned and launchedMetal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Painback in 2015, the publisher only ended up producing a single offshoot withMetal Gear Survive, which didn’t live up to expectations.RELATED:Hideo Kojima Nearly Quit After Metal Gear Solid 2Now, however, Quinton Flynn has taken to Twitter where he said that fans of his performance asMetal Gear’s Raiden may want to stay tuned over the next couple of weeks. This comes just a few days after therecentMetal Gear Solidremake leakthat stated the game is targeting a Q1 2023 launch window. Konami hasn’t announced anything in any official capacity up until now, but Flynn’s comments certainly suggest that something is afoot. With a bit of luck, the publisher may be attempting to do something akin to its revival ofSilent Hill, which is now being propped up with a number of all-new releases and multimedia projects.

Konami came out firing on all cylinders when it revealedthe newSilent Hill 2remakealongside several other futureSilent Hillgames, which quickly led to a wealth of positive press for the publisher. It’s easy to imagine that presenting a similarly comprehensive revival ofMetal Gear Solidwould lead to even more widespread acclaim from the community. Especially if the mysterious project is one of the earlierMetal Geartitles.

Rumors have already claimed that abigMetal Gearannouncement could drop in 2023, and Flynn’s curious tweet is only making these claims that much more interesting to consider. Only time will tell what the supposed announcement may end up being, of course, but the fact is that the tweet in question came about specifically in response to oneMGSfan asking about the future of the IP.

Whatever the case may be, it’s virtually impossible for Konami to make a reveal that could be nearly as universally panned as the reveal of theMetal Gear Solid 3pachinko machine. Indeed, the company once leveraged a small-scale Fox Engine remake of some scenes from the legendaryMGS 3, which led to a huge amount of negative sentiment toward it.
