Summary

LEGO Fortnitehas gotten off to an excellent start. Revealed during the Big Bang event alongside Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival, the crossover game has proven to be far deeper than anyone expected, as Epic Games has knocked it out of the park with its family friendly survival mode. Players can explore caves, befriendLEGO Fortnite’s animals, and visit different regions, all in hopes of acquiring resources to improve their village and attract more characters to move in. Decorating said villages is also a big draw for the game, and this decoration process is an area whereMinecraftcould do far better.

To be clear,Minecraftdoes have its share of decorations for players to use within their homes and bases, such as its famous paintings and some flower pots that players can add different colored flowers to. The community has also had fun coming up with their own designs for refrigerators, toilets, and so on. Still, withMinecrafthaving a bed that characters like Steve will actually lay down in, it is strange that the game has avoided adding some proper chairs and couches, as well as other basic furniture items like tables. Fortunately forLEGO Fortniteplayers, Epic Games has delivered exciting decorative items from the get go, andMinecraftmay want to take notes from it.

LEGO Fortnite’s Decorations Are a Cut Above Minecraft

LEGO Fortnite Has Furniture Items That Minecraft Players Have Regularly Asked For

When decorating the interiors of buildings in any game, there are a handful of items that players would expect to have access to. Chairs, couches, and tables come to mind, as well as kitchen counters, wardrobes, and natural-looking storage containers.Minecraftlacks all of these, whereasLEGO Fortnitecontains each of them despite being a brand-new survival game. Clearly,Epic Gamesrecognized that furniture is one of the basic things players would want to use while decorating the homes they worked so hard to build, and the wise decision to include it allows it to dodge similar calls for furniture options like whatMinecraftregularly experiences.

Admittedly, theLEGO Fortnitefurnitureis not perfect. While it serves as a great decorative option, with chairs and couches also able to be sat in by NPCs, players unfortunately lack an interact button to sit in them themselves. However, this could easily come in a future update, and even without the option to sit, it is nice to have the furniture.

Minecraft Could Also Benefit From LEGO Fortnite’s Smaller Decorations

LEGO Fortnitegoes above and beyond, as not only does it have multiple couch, chair, and table designs, but it has smaller decorations thatMinecraftlacks as well. Players can build a toilet and a roll of toilet paper, table props like kitchen utensils and plates, and more. WhileMinecraftmay allow players to come up with their own designs for interior furniture, these take up plenty of space, and some official blocks would certainly be welcome. Beyond that, Mojang’s hugely successful game leaves players with limited options for small decorations, lacking everyday things likeLEGO Fortnite’s toilet paper rolls and unused plates even though they would add a lot to the aesthetic of kitchens, bathrooms, and living rooms.

LEGO Fortniteboasting a better array of decorations not only gives it an advantage overMinecraft, but hopefully will serve as inspiration forMinecraftto add its own usable furniture and more small decorations. Flower pots and paintings simply are not enough in 2024, as even a game within a game likeLEGO Fortnitehas managed to surpassMinecraft’s interior decoration options. WhileMinecraftrefusing to add usable furniture for so long makes it seem like it could never arrive, and smaller decorations are added at a very slow pace, the game’s consistent support means that there is always a chance for Mojang to overhaul its interior design.
