With a release date a mere three months away, there is still a lot to be learned aboutThor: Love and Thunder. Up until now, there has still not been a released teaser or trailer to provide insight into what fans can expect from the upcoming Marvel film. What can be expected is the inclusion of familiar Marvel faces and the introduction of a new villain. A leak of the upcoming Marvel Legends figures has shown the first good look at these characters, including Gorr the God Butcher.
Thor: Love and Thunderwill be the fourth film in the Chris HemsworthThorfranchise. It will also includeGuardians of the Galaxy’sStar-Lord and Groot, who Thor previously met and collaborated with duringAvengers: Infinity WarandEndgame. It will also bring Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster back to the big screen.

The images of the Marvel Legends reveal a set of seven figures in theThor: Love and Thundercollection. In addition to the figure itself, the promo images on the side of the boxes provide a glimpse at the characters within the film.Within these images, Gorr the God Butcher appears quite human-like. His alien identity is best shown in the etchings around his eyes, head, and up his arms. His body is draped in a white cloth that stretches into a cape down his back. In the image, he also appears to wield All-Black the Necrosword.
Gorr’s figure matches the look on the side of the box where he is also accompanied by the Necrosword and a piece to build a Korg figure. Gorr is joined in the Marvel Legends series byPortman’s Jane Foster as Mighty Thor, Valkyrie, who has now been crowned King,Guardians of the Galaxy’sStar-Lord and Groot, and two Thor figures. One of the Thor figures puts Hemsworth in his traditional comic book garb, complete with the red cape and golden helmet. The other is Ravager Thor, which Hemsworth has been seen wearing in behind-the-scenes photos from the set. Both Thor figures come with his newest weapon, Stormbreaker.
Gorr’s debut inThor: Love and Thunderwill be the first time the character has been playedin a live-action form. In the comics, Gorr’s anger with the God of Thunder derived from the death of his family, after which, Gorr became convinced that the Gods couldn’t actually exist and let such a tragedy befall him. When he is proven wrong about their existence, he vows to kill them all as a form of justice and revenge.
The appearance of Gorr the God Butcher in the images provided by this merch is somewhat surprising. His human-like appearance differs from the almost lizard-like qualities he had throughout the comics. The figure has also turned Gorr’s black hooded cape white, making him appear almost likethe government-altered Visionthat was met inWandaVision. These changes in his appearance wouldn’t be the first ones to occur in Marvel between a character’s comic look and live-action transformation, but with Christian Bale playing the character, any issues to be found within Gorr’s look will be forgotten.
Thor: Love and Thunderwill release in theaters on June 23, 2025.
