Despite its fame and influence, it took over 20 years for theJojo’s Bizarre Adventuremanga to receive a full anime adaptation. Some attempts were made to adapt it in the past, but not until 2012 did David Productions take on the monumental task of animating the whole series.

Like withany anime adaptation, however, production limitations meant that not every scene could make it in, and sometimes, a scene is even viewed as unnecessary. David Productions did a great job of adapting most of the content in the manga, and even adding extra content and context in several areas. However, it was inevitable that some scenes never made it out of the manga.

9Part 1: Phantom Blood — Danny’s Backstory

Back inJojoPart 1, the conflict between Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando escalated to the point where Dio locked Jonathan’s dog Danny in a furnace, burning him alive. While this was already detestable, the event was even worse in the manga.

Originally, Dio was talking to Jonathan’s father, and was told the story of how Jonathan and Danny became friends. While Danny bit Jonathan at their first meeting, the dog later saved him from drowning, and became his best friend. This makes Dio’s murder of Danny sting even harder.

7Part 2: Battle Tendency — Joseph Drinks Horse Water

Later on,Joseph Joestartravels to Mexico to track down Speedwagon, who has been captured by the Nazis. In the anime, his only scene before locating the German base is a short fight against an assassin known as Donovan.

In the manga, he first stops by a random Mexican town, where he accidentally drinks water out of a horse trough, causing the locals to laugh at him and decide to rob him. He scares them by breaking his own goggles to fire shards of glass at them, and then demands they bring him food and fuel.

6Part 3: Stardust Crusaders — Dio Using the Sidewalk

InJojo Part 3, after the crusaders first encounter Dio, they flee his hideout in order to get away from his unknown stand ability. To pursue them, Dio accosts a US senator, forcing him to drive Dio in his own car. When the car runs into traffic, Dio insists that the senator drive over the sidewalk, which is packed with people.

In the manga, the car is shown plowing through the pedestrians. However, the anime cuts this part out, instead cutting to the bloodied car to imply what happened instead of showing it.

5Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable — Joseph & Josuke Run Into Yukako

In a deleted scene from the manga, Joseph and Josuke actually run into Yukako while searching for clues about Kira. 3Part 5: Vento Aureo — Body Swap Bonuses

Later in the story, the effect of the stand Silver Chariot Requiem causes every life form within range to swap souls with the closest living thing. This affects the heroes and villains, as well as random bystanders.

While the anime shows several shots of swapped bystanders, it does remove some. For example, it removes a scene of a young couple who have swapped bodies. The girlfriend is crying due to needing to pee, but not wanting to do so in her boyfriend’s body.

1Part 6: Stone Ocean — Where is Mickey?

After escaping to follow Jolyne, Anasui and Weather Report are hitching a ride in an old man’s truck, when the stand Bohemian Rhapsody begins to take effect. This stand causes fictional characters to come to life, including Pinnochio, whom the two meet on the truck.

In the manga, there was also a moment where Anasui was looking through a magazine for Disney World, which was missing all images of Mickey Mouse. Hilariously, he then complains that he wants to see Mickey, and that it’s not Disney if Mickey’s not there.
