Screen Rantgave fans a sneak preview of what Bulletproof would look like in his costume by sharing anInvincibleseason 2 photo in which he’s fighting alongside Shrinking Rae. The picture provided the caption, “You already saw the suit in the very first episode of Invincible, but here’s a look at it on someone not named Mark Grayson!! Meet Bulletproof, voiced by Jay Pharoah!” Bulletproof may be wearing Grayson’s OG costume because they share the same powers, more or less, much like they did in the comic.
TheInvincibleseason 2 picture could also hint at multiple things regarding Bulletproof’s role in the show. He is with Shrinking Rae because he is the latest recruit for the Guardians of the Globe. It makes sense for him to be recruited by them because he shares similar powers with Invincible, such as the ability to fly and super strength. It could also be a hint that he and Shrinking Rae are dating. Shrinking Rae didn’t get much screen timeduringInvincibleseason 1, but she may get more if they decide she needs more expansion. It’s also possible that both plotlines could run simultaneously with one another. As evidenced by Robot and Monster Girl, the Guardians of the Globe were never above interoffice relationships.
Kirkman said he was excited to see Bulletproofbe brought into the fold. Without giving too much away, Bulletproof has some of the same powers as Mark, except he can absorb kinetic energy and has a healing factor. With the original Guardians of the Globe dead and their replacements not nearly as powerful as them, it would be convenient to have someone whose powers rival that of a Viltrumite on their side.
Bulletproof may not just be another character becauseMark Grayson is expected to have a different arcinInvincibleseason 2. In his upcoming story, not only will he win fights, but he will also get arrogant as he beats the villains. Having someone who rivals his powers could help put Mark back in his place. With Omni-Man no longer acting as a measuring stick for Mark’s powers, Bulletproof may help humble the young one.
