Originally received for free as a 4-Star Preservation Ice unit, March 7th inHonkai: Star Railcan later be played as an Imaginary Hunt character after completing the mission,March to Mastery: A Star is Born. Players gain access to March’s first three Eidolons for free from theSaga of Primaveral Bladeevent.
Imaginary Hunt March 7th is an incredibly strong and versatile unit, able to excel in a variety of team compositions. March has two distinct playstyles that players can opt for: a traditional CRIT-focused build ora hybrid Break build. Due to her amazing kit, March’s CRIT build is relatively simple to assemble, especially with all the accessible options available in the game. The hybrid Break build, on the other hand, can require slightly more investment due to stat balancing and limited Break Effect Light Cone (LC) options for the Hunt Path. However, thanks to March’s Traces and Eidolons providing CRIT DMG, ATK, SPD, and Break Effect, players will find it easier to build her compared to some of the other units. Here’s a quick overview of thebest builds for Hunt March 7th’s two playstyles inHonkai: Star Rail.

Best Hunt March 7th Relics in Honkai: Star Rail - Crit Build
March 7th’s best unconditional relic set for her CRIT build is the ever-classic 4-pieceMusketeer of Wild Wheat, due not only to its ATK boost but also its SPD and Basic ATK DMG increase. The bulk of March’s damage lies in her enhanced Basic ATKs, which can potentially hit up to eight times after using her Ultimate, making Musketeer an incredible set to maximize her potential. For this playstyle, it is ideal to have an Erudition, Destruction, or Hunt unit as March’s Shifu target, to increase her Basic ATK DMG.
Pioneer Diver of Dead Watersis also a great set choice and slightly edges out Musketeer of Wild Wheat when all conditions are met. If players decide to run Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters, they will needTopaz’s signature Light Cone,Worrisome, Blissful, and a team of debuffers to maximize its effects. Ultimately, the damage difference between the two relic sets is very minimal and will come down to the substats rolled.

Another option for March is to run 2-piece combinations of ATK, DMG, or SPD relic sets. This includes Musketeer of Wild Wheat, Wastelander of Banditry Desert, Messenger Traversing Hackerspace, Prisoner in Deep Confinement, and The Wind-Soaring Valorous. While 2-piece combinations fall slightly behind the two 4-piece choices in terms of damage, they are still great unconditional options for players with pieces that have amazing substats. Overall, Musketeer of Wild Wheat remains the top recommendation for most players, as it is not advised to pull Worrisome, Blissful solely to make Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters work on March 7th.
When it comes to Planar Ornaments, March has several close options, withRutilant Arenacoming out at the top of the list. Rutilant Arena is a much more flexible option compared to its closest competitors,Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm, which requires another Hunt unit in the team. Additionally, Rutilant Arena remains one of the most efficient Planar Ornaments to farm due to sharing an extraction boss with Broken Keel.Firmament Frontline: Glamothis also a decent third option at 135 SPD. However, players are advised against aiming for the 160 SPD condition as it will require allocating too many stat rolls away from CRIT and ATK.

2,500-3,000 ATK
124+ SPD

70+ CRIT Rate
140+ CRIT DMG
With Imaginary March 7th’s E6, players can afford to allocate a bit more stats to CRIT Rate and a bit less to CRIT DMG.
Best Hunt March 7th Relics in Honkai: Star Rail - Break Build
March 7th’s hybrid Break build trades some ATK and CRIT stats for Break Effect, allowing her to excel withBreak units like Imaginary Trailblazerand Ruan Mei. This Break build is most efficient when paired with a Harmony, Nihility, Preservation, or Abundance unit as the Shifu target to increase the Toughness Reduction of March’s Basic ATKs. The two main relic set choices for this playstyle are Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge and Thief of Shooting Meteor.Iron Cavalry Against the Scourgeis the stronger option but also requires much more investment to fully utilize.
Iron Cavalry’s first condition of 150% Break Effect is relatively easy to achieve and grants a strong 10% DEF ignore when dealing Break DMG. The second condition is more challenging, requiring a whopping 250% Break Effect to grant a 15% DEF ignore for Super Break DMG. Fulfilling it requires not only Imaginary Trailblazer to enable Super Break but also allies to help March reach that 250% mark. Fortunately, the second condition is not required for Iron Cavalry to compete withThief of Shooting Meteor. Players who wish to utilize the Super Break effect will needBoothill’s signature Light Cone,Sailing Towards A Second Life, to realistically meet the Break Effect requirements.

For Planar Ornaments, March’s options are Talia: Kingdom of Banditry or Forge of Kalpagni Lantern. WhileForge of Kalpagni Lanternoffers SPD and slightly more Break Effect, its Fire Weakness condition can be more restricting than the SPD requirement onTalia: Kingdom of Banditry.
To accommodate the Break Effect stat, hybrid March will generally run lower ATK and CRIT relative to her CRIT build. It is still recommended to run at least 124 SPD to reach the first breakpoint of 134 SPD with March’s E1. Players can also opt to sacrifice some CRIT ratio to hit 150 SPD for the 160 SPD breakpoint, allowing for more frequent Toughness damage.

2,000-2,500 ATK
124/135 (Talia)/150 SPD

100+ CRIT DMG
150%+ Break Effect
Combined with Ruan Mei, March 7th’s Enhanced Basic ATK can potentially deal up to 120 Toughness damage, the highest in the game.
Best Imaginary Hunt March 7th Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail
There are several great Light Cone options available for March 7th’s CRIT build, all of which are extremely close to each other in damage.Seele’s signature Light Cone,In the Night, tops the list with its CRIT and synergy with the SPD stat.Baptism of Pure ThoughtandWorrisome, Blissfulboth follow closely behind with their CRIT stats, follow-up boosts, and synergy withPioneer Diver of Dead Waters.
The best free option isCruising in the Stellar Sea, which iseasily obtainable at Superimposition 5 from Herta’s Store. This 5-Star LC is incredibly close in power, at S5, to the limited options for March 7th, saving players from needing to pull on them solely for her. Players can also run 4-Star LCs, such asSwordplayandOnly Silence Remains. However, players will need them at S5 and use them in niche settings for both to remain competitive with the rest.

For March’s Break build,Sailing Towards A Second Lifeis the best choice, offering a 60% (S1) Break Effect increase to help players reach the conditions forIron Cavalry Against the Scourge. This LC also grants 20% (S1) DEF ignore for Break DMG anda massive 12% SPD boost.
While there aren’t more Break Effect-specific Light Cones left available in the Hunt Path, the CRIT LCs are still amazing alternate options due to March’s reliance on CRIT outside the Break phase. Players can also opt for the 4-Star LCRiver Flows in Spring, purchasable with Lucent Afterglow, for a decent SPD and DMG boost.
