Kingdom Heartshas many beloved characters, with Sora, the protagonist of the Dark Seeker Saga, being one of the most beloved and also one that fans are excited to meet again inKingdom Hearts 4. Throughout the games that Sora is in, players have seen him grow a lot, not only as he develops on his adventures but by his actual age as well. As he has gotten older since the original installment and Sora’s birthday has never been celebrated in any of the games, some players may be unsure of how old he will be inKingdom Hearts 4, which is currently in development.

Although Sora’s exact age may be difficult to determine, fans may have picked up on a few major clues about how much time has passed between past games andKingdom Hearts 4. As long as there aren’t any unexpected time skips and time works the same inKingdom Hearts 4’s Quadratumas it does in most of the worlds that players have previously visited from other games, it is very likely that Sora will have only aged a bit sinceKingdom Hearts 3’s ReMind DLC.

How Old Was Sora In Previous Kingdom Hearts Games

For starters, Sora was first introduced in the originalKingdom Heartsgame at the age of 14. Though there are some flashbacks in that game to when Sora was younger, and he was only 4 inKingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, knowing theKingdom Heartstimelineis a good starting point for figuring out his age inKingdom Hearts 4. While it is unknown how recent his birthday was, it is believed by many fans that he was still 14 in the following game,Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. However, at the end of this game, Sora had to go to sleep in a pod for nearly a year, which would make him 15 inKingdom Hearts 2.

While it is unknown when his next birthday was, fans know Sora to be 16 inKingdom Hearts 3. This means that he had gotten a year older during the events ofKingdom Hearts: Coded,Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance,Kingdom Hearts: A Fragmentary Passage, or at some point between those three installments. While Sora was 16 throughout the majority of the third mainline game, parts ofKingdom Hearts 3’s ReMind DLCtake place a year later, making Sora 17 years old when he encounters Yozora.

Sora Will Likely Be 17 Years Old In Kingdom Hearts 4

Based on what fans already know aboutKingdom Hearts 4, it seems that Sora will have barely aged since his fight withYozora inKingdom Hearts 3, so it is very likely that he is still 17 years old despite looking somewhat different in the trailer for the upcoming game.Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memoryalso gives fans reason to believe that Sora is still 17 years old. While that game didn’t have much of a story as it mostly served as a recap of the games in the Dark Seeker Saga, its narrative section shows Kairi and Riku to be the same age as they were in the ReMind DLC forKingdom Hearts 3.

While it is possible that a time skip could take place duringKingdom Hearts 4or for time to work differently in Quadratum, as it has been confirmed inKingdom Hearts: Dark Roadthat times passes at a different speed in every world, it is likely that Sora will be 17 years old based on what players know from previous games and what was shown inKingdom Hearts 4’s trailer. On the other hand,Kingdom Hearts 4’s Sora might have to be more matureas far as the story goes, and this would call for him to grow up in between games.
