Superheros are nothing new forFortnite. Not only have the last two seasons seen the inclusion of bothDeadpooland Aquaman, but Epic has also introduced limited-time modes based around the Avengers in the past. It seems like Epic’s superhero love isn’t over, as some newFortniteleaks have found evidence that Captain America might be making his way into the game in some way, shape, or form.

The news comes the way of prominentFortnitedataminer VastBlast, who found the coded evidence in the backend of the new update for the game that was released last night. Alongside the Captain America code, VastBlast also found new contrails, gliders, pickaxes, and more.

According to the leaker, there are strings of text in the game that reference Captain America’s shield, while also mentioning the fact that it can be used as both a backpack and a pickaxe, which would be a bit unique for an item like that. VastBlast was also able to find some flavor text for the item, which says that “Captain America’s shield is as indestructible as his will,” which certainly sounds like a stereotypical Captain America description.

Unfortunately, that’s where the leaks end for Captain America. As of the time of this writing, there’s no evidence for an actual skin itself, although the chances of having a Vibranium shield as an item and NOT having a Captain America skin to go along with it are slim to none.

Of course, this is all rumor and speculation at this point. While not likely, it’s entirely possible that this is somehow leftover code from theAvengers in-game eventa while back, where players could pick up items based on Hawkeye, Iron Man, Captain America, and more, and use them around the map itself. Still, it remains to be seen when and if this skin will be added to the game, especially given the fact that Aquaman is currently the featured skin and it’s unlikely that DC would want a competitor’s skin coming in at the same time.

All in all, however, the inclusion of Captain America in Fortnite would be awesome, especially withThe Falcon and the Winter Soldiercoming to Disney+ in the very near future. Marvel would be able to easily cross-promote that show inFortnite, so it wouldn’t be surprising if both Epic and Marvel wait to add in the skin or item until that show debuts later this fall.

Fortniteis available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
