Final Fantasy 14just revealed a new series of short stories as a part of its 10-year anniversary celebration. The first of theseFinal Fantasy 14stories is available now, and the others will become available over the course of the next several weeks.
On August 27,Final Fantasy 14celebrated 10 yearssince the launch ofA Realm Reborn. The celebration brings tons of content for players to enjoy both in and out of the game, including a special Rising event, cash shop sale, and giveaways.

Now,Final Fantasy 14has revealed a special series of short stories it is releasing for the anniversary. Tales Under the New Moon is a collection of four free tales players can read to delve further into the hearts and minds oftheir favoriteFinal Fantasy 14characters. The first story, “As Azure Fades,” focuses on Estinien as he relaxes over a bottle of fine spirits, only to share a peculiar vision of the first Azure Dragoon’s final moments.
At press time, only “As Azure Fades” is available, but a new short story will be released on September 1 and the next two subsequent Fridays. The subjects and plot of these short stories won’t be revealed until they are released, but players might expect to see other belovedFinal Fantasy 14characters like Y’shtola, Thancred, or the Leveilleur twins. Either way, fans will want to make sure to havecompleted the Main Scenario Quests forEndwalkerbefore reading them to avoid any potential spoilers.
Unsurprisingly, many fans are excited to read these new short stories. Even before he became a Trust companion inEndwalker, Estinien was an incredibly popular character, and seeing him in the short story was a delight for his fans. Tales Under the New Moon is actually the eighth collection of short storiesFinal Fantasy 14has put out over the last 10 years. Players can enjoy dozens of vignettes that go behind the scenes and provide unique perspectives and backstories for the heroes and villains ofFinal Fantasy 14. Though it does not have a set schedule for when it releases these short stories, they often arrive after major X.3 and X.5 patches, or after expansions themselves, so fans might get more sometimeafterDawntrailreleases next summer.
Final Fantasy 14is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S version launching in Spring 2024.
