Since her \ introduction inDragon Ball FighterZas its primary antagonist, Android 21 has become one of the most popular characters in Arc System Works' massively successful fighting game. The game-original Android has since seen further appearances in newer titles from the franchise, with Android 21 appearing inDragon Ball Z: Kakarotand even seeing fansmod the Android intoDragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Now, the game, which heralded in the arrival of the newest Android, is preparing to add a new way to play the fan-favorite character.
Android 21 was first introduced as a fully original character inDragon Ball FighterZwith Arc System Works collaborating withDragon Ball Zartist Akira Toriyama to design the bio-Android created with cells from another of the franchise’s most memorable antagonists, Majin Buu. While Android 21 was depicted in a human form, the Majin form of Android 21 sporting the signature pink skin and white hair was previously the only version of the Android available for players to unlock. Now, Arc System Works recently revealed that Android 21’s ‘Lab Coat’ human form is finally coming to the game.

The trailer officially introducesAndroid 21’s Lab Coat formand her connection with Android 16 while teasing the trademark Majin hunger that led her to her original Majin transformation during the story ofDragon Ball FighterZ. The flashy gameplay segments show off a variety of Android 21’s attacks with many of her special abilities taking inspiration from Android 16 with her Ultimate move, in particular, paying homage to 16’s ‘Hell Flash’ technique. Fans won’t have to wait long to play as her either as the trailer reveals Lab Coat Android 21 will arrive toFighterZon February 24th.
Lab Coat Android 21’s introduction follows a recent trend fromFighterZwith the game introducing plenty of new characters from the franchise’s extended universe over the past year, with 2021 seeing two new characters added fromDragon Ball GT. Early 2021 saw the addition of an upgraded form ofDragon Ball GT’s first antagonist in Super Baby 2, as well as the highly-requestedaddition of Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, with previous additions from the thirdFighterZbattle pass adding Ultra Instinct Goku and Kefla fromDragon Ball Super.
WithDragon Ball FighterZrecently celebrating its fourth-anniversary last month, the game has shown no signs of slowing down in recent years. Last August’sVersion 1.28 update saw sweeping changesto the game on both a balance and systemic level andFighterZalso recently crossed a major milestone with Arc System Works announcing in November that the game had surpassed eight million units sold. The success ofFighterZhas been staggering and, with new characters continually being added, Arc System Works will look to maintain the game’s success into the future.
