Hitman 3is a visual delight to many players currently indulging in IO Interactive’s newest addition to the World of Assassination trilogy. With stunning visual effects and lighting to make scenes inHitman 3pop, it’s no surprise that people are wondering ifHitman 3has ray tracing enabled, or whenHitman 3’sray tracing will be implemented on supporting platforms if it doesn’t already.
Hitman 3launched on January 20for multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch, and Stadia. Currently,Hitman 3does not have ray tracing enabled on any platform, but it does feature 4K graphics on Xbox Series X for players to admire. PS5 players can enjoy the game in 1800p.

IO Interactive has stated that it viewsHitman 3as a live game, and sees the recent release of the game to be “just the beginning of a journey.” IO Interactive has plans to keep working on the game and add new features in future updates. With PC and next-gen consoles having hardware support for ray tracing, IO Interactive has already started working on implementing ray tracing technology into its Glacier engine. The developer plans on releasing a ray tracing support update toHitman 3for PC and next-gen consoles later in 2021.
IO Interactive Chief Technology Officer Maurizio de Pascale has also explained that the improved next-gen hardware allowsHitman 3to update its NPCs more frequently and in higher numbers. This technology increase allows moreNPCs to react to events inHitman 3, as well as create more detailed cloth and destruction effects in-game.
Details on ifHitmanandHitman 2will receive ray tracing support are currently unknown. Considering players can enjoythe campaigns within theHitman 3game as a singular, unified story, it would be a nice addition to add some extra life to the previous entries in the World of Assassination trilogy. The originalHitmanreceived a graphical update alongside the release ofHitman 2,so there is a precedent for it.
Hitman 3is already a beautiful game with incredible visual effects, notably demonstrable on thesides of skyscrapers in Dubai, as well as on the grounds of gorgeous estates. The future implementation of ray tracing is sure to be a well-received addition that will take the visual fidelity ofHitman 3to the next level. Gone are the days of basic resolution assassinations, soon players will be able to plan and carry out assassination attempts in beautiful ray-traced landscapes.
