The Multiverse just got bigger with Marvel Studios officially releasing the trailer forDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.Benedict Cumberbatch is back as Stephen Strange in the sequel to the 2016’sDoctor Strange,and in case fans think they’re seeing double, they aren’t wrong.
The two-minute trailer for theDoctor Strangesequel was first revealed as part of thepost-credit scenes inSpider-Man: No Way Home. Anyone who has watched the film would have already seen Doctor Strange struggling with a Multiversal-level threat. But, the trailer is now out on the internet for everyone to see, confirming a Jul 05, 2025, release date. And that’s not all, because Marvel has also revealed the first official poster forDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,which is equally abstract.

The trailer begins with a line fromSpider-Man:No Way Home, with Doctor Strange further confirming that he didn’t “mean for any of this to happen.” He refers to the botched spell that sets off the Multiverse and brings in several villains to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans are then offered a glimpse of the meeting that they have been waiting for sinceWandaVisionpremiered on Disney Plus. Doctor Strange goes to meet Wanda, in the same location that fans saw her in as part of thepost-credits scene inWandaVision, seeking her help.
While fans have already seen what unleashing the Multiverse means inSpider-Man: No Way Home, it seems like things will get further “out of hand” inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The trailer offers vertigo-inducingglimpses of the Multiverse madness, with Doctor Strange going places that he should potentially avoid. The only solace for him is that he isn’t alone. But, that isn’t necessarily a good thing.

As part of episode 4 ofWhat If…?, Doctor Strange attempts to use all forms of dark magic to prevent Christine Palmer’s death. In his quest, he manages to gain immeasurable power but still loses the woman he loves because she is repulsed by him. So powerful is his magic that he manages to crack the realm of reality and destroy the entire universe. It seems like he has found a new home inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessand it remains to be seen whether he will be a foe or an ally.
