Developer Blizzard Entertainment has been slowly revealing what fans can expect fromDiablo 4ever since its reveal in 2019. The newest information that Blizzard has released reveals that players will be able to fully customize their characters for the first time inDiablo 4.

In previousDiablotitles, players simply chose from one ofDiablo’s pre-built classeslike Druid or Sorceress that have an assigned appearance. The only way to change that appearance was by picking up and equipping different pieces of armor throughout one’s playthrough, which would effectively cover up the class' starting appearance. However,Diablo 4looks to take a very different approach.

In Blizzard’s newest quarterly update on the development ofDiablo 4, the developers detailed the new character customization system that players can expect when the game launches. Interestingly, eachDiablo 4classwill have some unique customization options to reflect the class' culture and history within the world, but most of the options will be universally available to all characters. The update also included a handful of screenshots that show a lot of variety in the characters possible in the system.

The post also gave details on how the dye system will be evolved forDiablo 4. Dyes have been present in theDiabloseries before, and allow players to further customize their gear by applying a color of their choice to it. The quarterly update, however, details that inDiablo 4players will be able to dye each individual piece of armor or all of their equipped armor at once. The dyes will be accessible in the player’s hub area, known as the Lair. Interestingly, the update says that the dyes will also contain color palettes that will more widely change the color schemes ofDiablo 4’s wide range of gear.
