One of the things thatDiablo 4’s inaugural season introduced was The Oculus, a unique wand that many fans initially ridiculed when it was announced. It offered Sorcerers the Teleport Enhancement for free, but the drawback of teleporting players to a random location on Evade was criticized as ruining a neat concept. However, The Oculus that c3rolling shared with the officialDiablo 4subreddit has such a significant boost to Teleport Ranks that it completely trivializes the need to Evade in the first place.
That being said, unless a Sorcerer is runninghigh-tier Nightmare Dungeons inDiablo 4, they will rarely be in any serious danger from using The Oculus' random Evade. With +3 Evade Charges and +15 Teleport Ranks, this item transforms the Sorcerer experience inDiablo 4into that of the Sorceress fromDiablo 2. Being able to spam Teleport at will, with no cooldown and decent damage, has given The Oculus a special place in the heart of many Sorcerer players inDiablo 4.
What prevents The Oculus from becoming an overpowered Unique item inDiablo 4is the simple fact that it prioritizes utility over damage, as it boasts no offensive stats on its own. ThoughDiablo 4’s Season of Bloodhas promised plenty of fixes to the game’s itemization, it is highly likely that The Oculus will remain unchanged from its current iteration. As it stands, it is a niche weapon, but also an extremely potent choice for players seeking an unorthodox approach to Sorcerer gameplay.
