Lightfall is the latest expansion forDestiny 2. This expansion is the start of Year 6, and is the second to last expansion in the Light and Dark story arc of the series that has been ongoing since the release of the originalDestinyback in 2014.

While Lightfall has been out for nearly two months now, there have been a lot of things for players to do as Year 6 ofDestiny 2continues and there are still three more Seasons to go before the Final Shape and the end of the Light and Dark saga ofDestiny 2. With the release of challenges in Root of Nightmares along with Guardian Games starting up next week, thecomplete guide for Lightfallhas been updated. More guides will be added in the coming weeks as Season of Defiance draws to a close and Season of Defiance begins.
Getting Started in Lightfall
When logging in for the first time,Destiny 2players will immediately see the opening cutscenes and have the option to start the Lightfall campaign on any difficulty. It is recommended that players complete the first mission as it will unlock Neomuna and give players access to the new seasonal artifact to use the powerful seasonal perks that are now passives instead of equippable mods.
Before starting Season of Defiance content, it is recommended that players complete the entire Lightfall campaign first. This section of the guide will focus on things like artifact mods, collectibles, various how-to guides, and non-seasonal titles.
Neomuna Currencies
Lightfall Campaign
While the beginning of the Lightfall campaign in Destiny 2 starts in orbit above Earth, it quickly changes scenery when players arrive at Neptune. For centuries, there has been a hidden city on Neptune called Neomuna. Somehow, The Witness was able to discover its location and sends his newest Disciple, Calus, to seize a mysterious artifact known as the Veil.
To prevent The Witness from achieving its goal, players must work with the Cloud Striders of Neomuna to find and secure the Veil before Calus does. This part of the guide will cover any campaign related guides, including a full walkthrough.
Campaign Guides
Strand
As players progress through the campaign of Lightfall, they will uncover a strange new Darkness power called Strand. This is a power that was previously unknown, unlike Stasis, so players must learn as they go while getting help from Osiris. Through several campaign missions, players will get to try out an empowered version of Strand with quick cooldowns.
to use Strand outside the campaign,Destiny 2players must complete the Campaign and then visit the Pouka pond to permanently unlock Strand. This is also where players will purchase Fragments and Grenades for Strand. This section of the guide will cover Strand build guides for all classes.
Strand Build Guides
Raid Guides
As with every expansion ofDestiny 2, there is a brand-new raid for players to tackle. All that is currently known about the new raid is that it is called The Root of Nightmares. Unlike raids in recent expansions that occur in the new destination (Neomuna in this case), The Root of Nightmares takes place on the Pyramid that got blasted by the Traveler in the opening cutscene of Lightfall.
According to Bungie, an ancient presence has been detected within the Pyramid. Players must deal with this threat before it can cause any trouble for the Last City or Neomuna. This section of the guide will cover guides about the raid along with where all the hidden chests can be found.
Other Root of Nightmares Guides
Weapons and Armor
At its core,Destiny 2is a loot game. That means that with every new Season and Expansion, there is going to be some sort of new gear for players to chase. Whether it is a new Nightfall or raid weapon with interesting perks, or new Exotic Armor that opens up new possibilities for builds, there is always a reason for players to continue the grind for new loot.
This section of the Lightfall guide will cover all the new weapons and armor that players will want to claim for themselves, including both Legendary and Exotic weapons and armor added in Season 20.
Armor
Season of Defiance
While the events of Lightfall mostly take place on Neptune, Season of Defiance takes place back on Earth. Following the opening cutscene of Lightfall, the Shadow Legion launches an invasion of Earth. For reasons unknown, they are focusing on capturing civillians and holding them within Pyramids that have landed and transformed.
The storyline of Season of Defiance is told through the quest ‘We Stand Unbroken’. Just like with previous seasons, a new part of this quest unlocks each week. This section of the guide will cover all content related to Season of Defiance, including Exotics like Vexcalibur and seasonal activities.
