The newest subclass inDestiny 2allows players to wield a plethora of new Darkness abilities, but some players have recently encountered a strange bug which allows them to use certain Strand abilities while other subclasses are equipped. This isn’t the weirdest glitch that fans have come across sinceDestiny 2’s latest season dropped, though, with various issues causing trouble for certain weapons, abilities, and even entire game modes.
Strand itself has brought a number of complex additions to the game, and this is far from the first bug that players have found regarding the Darkness subclass. Introduced withDestiny 2’s latest expansion, Strand allows each class to leverage versatile movement capabilities with a grapple, while also providing players with plenty of new combat abilities that allow for unique styles of play. The recently-released Season of the Deep allows Guardians to take advantage of even more new Strand abilities, with each of these new aspects giving every one of the game’s classes a slightly unique spin on wielding Strand.

Not all of these aspects seem to be working as intended though, with one documented bug showingan Arcstrider Hunter inDestiny 2inadvertently spawning Strand Threadlings while dodging. This clip was captured and posted on Reddit by the user Known-Dog-6899, and quickly gained the community’s attention after other players found themselves encountering similar issues. The player demonstrating the issue wasn’t using any gear or abilities that can take advantage of Strand, but some members of the community have pointed out that the bug seems to be caused by the Warlock’s Weaver’s Call aspect somehow applying not only to other subclasses, but to other Guardian classes entirely.
TheWeaver’s Call aspect inDestiny 2is intended for Warlocks only, and allows them to spawn multiple Threadlings upon casting their Rift. Though it’s not yet clear why this power can affect other classes or how players can exploit the issue intentionally, quite a few members of the game’s community claim to have seen this glitch applying to Hunters when using their dodge ability and Striker Titans when using their thrust ability in particular. Such instances have even had effects in Crucible matches, leading to some players being reported under the assumption that the bug is a result of cheating or some other form of intentional gameplay sabotage.
Considering the variety of other newbugs that have appeared since the release ofDestiny 2’s latest season, it’s fair to say that Season of the Deep hasn’t provided the smoothest experience for players thus far. One similar issue that was commonly experienced at the start of the start of the season caused players to die instantly upon executing an enemy with a finisher, though the effect of instant death is also occasionally applied to players when crushing a Hive Ghost. Thankfully though, Bungie has made it clear that they are aware of several issues at the moment, many of which will likely see amendments in upcoming hotfixes.
Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
