Another game breaking bug infectsFallout 76to infuriate the remaining players by robbing them of their hard earned loot through glitched out NPCs. This latest issue seems to be mostly affecting players attempting to make their way through quests with an included NPC companion as part of therecent Wastelanders update.

First reported by playersFallout 76’s subreddit, a number of players have found that dying while attempting to complete a quest comes with a heavy penalty. Some players have even mentioned losing miniguns, gatling lasers, and otherpieces of powerful gearafter dying during a quest.

The problem seems to be coming from a bug where, once the player has died, the friendly NPC will loot their corpse, often stealing some of their best gear. Some posts have even mentioned that a separate bug causes the events and quests that this glitch is appearing in to reset after the death, leaving the player with no option to attempt to get the equipment back from the NPC or reload to before losing the gear. Along with this newest bug, along with otherpersisting glitches from before Wastelanders, some players have been understandingly upset with the buggy nature ofFallout 76.

It should be noted that Bethesda is currently aware of this issue and the community manager has been replying quickly to reports on either Reddit or theFallout 76forums about this error. So, while these glitches are unfortunate, it would seem that the dev team is currently working to resolve the issue, and is attempting to reimburse players with any weapons orrare gearthat they may have lost as a result. However, until the issue is fully resolved, it may be a good idea for players to avoid the Riding Shotgun and Radiation Rumble events, as those seem to be the most susceptible to this latest glitch.

Bugs and glitches are always an unfortunate part of modern gaming, as engines and systems get more and more complex, especially with open world, online titles likeFallout 76. However, it does seem like Bethesda is at least working to resolve these issues as fast as possible so players can go about enjoying the game again. Considering how muchWastelanders has improvedFallout 76, it seems like the game is headed in the right direction, but with such a large update adding so many things, bumps in the road are unfortunately part of the growing process.

Fallout 76is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
