InBreath of the Wild, players can farm many creatures such as frogs, dragonflies, butterflies, and beetles. Because they’ll take off the minute they hear Link, they can be tricky to catch. Although more common than their other counterparts, the Hightail Lizards may take some time to collect if players aren’t fast enough.

Although Link can use Hightail Lizards to upgrade armor, he can cook them with Monster Parts to craft Hasty Elixirs. Ultimately, it comes down to the player on what they should do with the Hightail Lizards inBreath of the Wild. Armor upgrades are important, but elixirs can give Link a much-needed boost while exploring.

Where Can You Find Hightail Lizards?

The Hightail Lizards can be found anywhere in theWest NecludaandEast Necluda. They hide in grass, but some can be spotted in trees. Have Link use a Spin Attack in a field, then quickly approach the lizard and press A before it has a chance to run off.

Hightail Lizardswon’tbe found running amok the Eldin Region. The lizards in Eldin are Fireproof Lizards. Those can be used to upgrade the Flamebreaker Set. Cooking them in elixirs will generate a Flameproof Elixir rather than a Hasty Elixir.

A great place to look for Hightail Lizards is in the fields nearSerenne Stable. Cut down the grass in the areas highlighted in blue on theabove image. Link should be able to get a handful of Hightail Lizards in no time.

For those that would rather buy Hightail Lizards, Beedle will sell them for 10 rupees at theLakeside Stable and the South Akkala Stable. Keep in mind that buying materials means Link will need to wait for them to restock. Thus, the preferred method of Hightail Lizard farming is to just mow down the grass in Hyrule.

Where to Use Hightail Lizards

Link will need x5 Hightail Lizards to upgrade each piece of the Climbing Set to level 2. By leveling up the Climbing Set to two stars, he’ll receive the Set Bonus. For the Climbing Set, Link will use less Jump Stamina when climbing. Thus, it’s highly recommended to get this armor set upgraded as soon as possible.

The other armor that requires Hightail Lizards arethe Sand Boots and Snow Boots. Link will needx10 Hightail Lizardsforeach set of boots. While the Sand Boots and Snow Boots make it easier for Link to walk through sand and snow respectively, they’re not as demanding as the Climbing Set. Wearing either of these boots provides no Set Bonus for Link.

The final way to use Hightail Lizards is to make Elixirs. Use one (or more) Hightail Lizard and one Monster Part (ex: Bokoblin Fang) to create a Hasty Elixir. The more Hightail Lizards used in the recipe, thelonger lasting the Elixir will be. As its name indicates, a Hasty Elixir will increase Link’s movement speed for a set amount of time.
