Thoughhardly anything is explained to playersin the interconnected, mysterious world ofAnimal Well, the game doesn’t leave players completely in the dark. Relatively soon after starting the game for the first time, the World Map becomes available to unlock.
The World Map only displays areas that you have explored and rooms you have entered, and can be opened with the Select button (or equivalent input on your device). But to really learn the map, you should also unlock the Stamp system, which lets players place custom markers on theAnimal WellMap.
How To Unlock The Animal Well Map
You will unlock theAnimal Wellworld map relatively early in the game. From the spawn location at the very start of the game, head right, then up, until you reach a Telephone. Remember to save here, then head right until you come to a room with a blueenemy that chases youand a platform you have to raise.
Use a Firecracker to dispatch the enemy instantly, then turn the crank to raise the platform. Get to the right side of the room, climb the ladder, observe the rabbit on the left side of the screen in the next room, then go right. You will enter a room with a chest surrounded by two squirrel statues. Open the chest to get the map.
TheAnimal Wellmap only displays areas that you have personally explored. Though it doesn’t give much in the way of location names or details on your route, there is a system that helps players keep track of all ofAnimal Well’s map quirks and areas: the Stamp system.
How To Unlock Map Stamps (& How To Use Them)
Map Stamps are not unlocked with the map automatically. At first, the map willonlylet you look over the layout of explored areas. But by unlocking the Stamp system, you can place symbols on the map to remind yourself of inaccessible secrets, perplexing puzzles, and othercontent you want to track or return to.
To unlock Stamps, you will need to find your way to the Peacock room, where your collected Eggs are displayed. From the central telephone above the starting area, simply head left to the three penguin statues, then up through the building on the left side of this room. Climb the ladder, then go left into a room with an egg outside. The chest containing the Stamp tool should be on the right side of the room.
To use Stamps, open up your map with the Select key, then press either Y or Triangle to select and place a stamp anywhere on your map. Use this system to track treasure you can’t reach, puzzles you can’t solve, and entrances to other areas that you just can’t quite get to yet.
