Alan Wake 2features multiple shotguns for players to add to their arsenal, and one of the earliest ones is a sawed-off shotgun that Saga can get early in the game. Shotguns are a survival-horror staple, so it’s no surprise that they are featured inAlan Wake 2, a game that fully embraces the survival-horror genre.

Alan Wake 2is a pure horror game, in contrast to its predecessor, which was more of an action-adventure title. In becoming a horror game,Alan Wake 2lifts ideas from modern genre favorites, particularly Capcom’sResident Evilremakes.Alan Wake 2features an over-the-shoulder camera and combat system highly reminiscent of Capcom’s games, with a weapon selection that would also fit right at home inResident Evil.

Like theResident Evilgames that inspired it, getting weapons inAlan Wake 2usually requires players to solve puzzles. It’s entirely possible for players to miss out on certain weapons in the game if they don’t know where to look or how to access them. Those wondering how to get Saga’s first shotgun will first want to progress to the part in the game where they have to go the General Store and grab a heart out of a freezer. The shotgun is located here, in the back room on the wall. Unfortunately, the shotgun is locked behind a case. In our game, the code to the shotgun case was739, but it’s entirely possible that the code could be randomized. If 739 doesn’t work, players will want to go through the steps to figure out the code for themselves.

How to Get Sawed-Off Shotgun Code in Alan Wake 2

Head to the General Store counter and check out the notepad sitting on it. Players should see numbers scratched off, all starting with the same number, which was 7 in our case. Examine the Lotto Washington lottery ticket sitting on top of the notepad. Take that first number and combine it with the fifth lottery number to get the code. Input the code on the lock and collectSaga’s sawed-off shotgun.

Saga isn’t the only playable character inAlan Wake 2. Later in the game, players will get toplay as the titular Alan Wake himself, though he doesn’t share gear with Saga. This means they have to collect a shotgun all over again. Wake’s first shotgun can’t be missed, so players don’t have to worry about solving any puzzles to get it. Other shotguns and weapons in the game require players to solve puzzles and find codes, but Saga’s sawed-off more than gets the job done.

Alan Wake 2is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
