With the MCU’s interpretation of theX-Mencoming up in the next few years or so, many will keep their eyes peeled on who gets cast. If they decide to involve Bishop more in this reboot(?), it turns out rapper Method Man wants to try his hand at playing Bishop should he get the chance.

Method Man floated the idea of playing the mutant forthe upcoming reboot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also admitted that he would have no issue if the role went to someone else (if they include Bishop) or even if they went to the original actor who played him nine years ago.

Method Man admitted that he was interested in playing Bishop in an MCU interpretation of the X-Men toCassius, but added that the previous actor who played him did and would do a good job. “I was just putting it out there to see if I could hook something,” Method Man said. “Those guys at the MCU, they know their stuff. I haven’t had any problems with any of their casting choice so far. So whoever gets the job… I think Omar Sy did an excellent job as Bishop, but that was before MCU. If they chose him again, I think he’d kill it. There’s a few people out there. But if they’re willing to give me a shot, I’d go for it. Plus, I’ve done all the research already.”

Bishop was featured only once in the originalX-Menmovie franchise, as he was one of the few remaining mutants who had not been killed to been captured by the Sentinels in the apocalyptic future set inX-Men: Days of Future Past. His powers, as portrayed in the movie, displayed that he could absorb any form of energy fired at him and then direct it back. Bishop’s role in the movie was not very big, as the film centered more on stopping the past from happening to save the future. Although Bishop was killed nobly in the mutants' successful efforts to stop the Sentinels before they rewrote the past to make a better future.

For all anyone knows, Bishop may not be featured in the upcoming reboot as he is not typically who Marvel fans think ofwhen they think of X-Men. At the same time, the previous movie franchise featured fan-favorite Gambit only once in its 19-year run, and it happened to be in its black sheep,X-Men Origins: Wolverine. If they decide that Bishop will be featured in the upcoming role, Method Man has a pretty solid acting resume to his name. Not to mention, he has appeared in superhero media before, likeLuke Cage. It wouldn’t be entirely out of left field to have him play Bishop in the reboot.

Whether they cast Method Man or not to play the role, the MCU has a tall order ahead with how they approach the upcomingX-Menreboot because they are handling one of Marvel’s biggest franchises while also trying tobring some fresh new materialout of it. Even if theX-Menmovies were inconsistent in terms of quality, they touched up on subjects that may be a little too deep for the MCU to touch. But that could give the franchise the necessary boost they desire to get its fans re-invested again.
