The firstSparkgame had a focus on 2D platforming, similar to the Genesis games, while the second and third entries were 3D platformers, similar to games likeSonic AdventureorSonic Colors. In the third game, Spark has to blaze through high-speed levels, avoiding various obstacles and fighting through enemies using a variety of movement and combat options. While this indie platformer was released only on PC, theSparkseries will be making its console debut on the Switch.
This announcement was made by indie publisher FreakZone Games, who have partnered up with LakeFeperd in order to bringSpark the Electric Jester 3to the Switch. FreakZone notes that they wanted to have theSparkseries on consoles for so long, and were honored to help bring theindie platformer onto the Switch. They note the port took a “long time,” as they wanted to do the game justice. This was accompanied by a gameplay trailer ofSpark the Electric Jester 3running on the Nintendo Switch console. No release date for the Switch version has been announced yet.
How Will Spark 3 Perform on Nintendo Switch?
LakeFeperd and FreakZone Games then noted that theNintendo Switch portofSpark 3needed to make some necessary concessions in order to run optimally on the hybrid system, as the game was developed for PC and not Switch. LakeFeperd notes that it is targeting a stable 30 FPS instead of the original’s 60, but there are times the game will dip below that, especially when several enemies spawn at once. FreakZone Games chimes in about the performance, noting thatSpark 3will dip in performance in really heavy areas, but they are also working on updates that address the frame drops.
